A game originally announced as only available on Xbox Series X in 2026 will now also be released on PlayStation 5 and PC. Since the game isn’t being made or published by Xbox or its related companies like Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard, it’s surprising it was initially presented as an Xbox exclusive. Many people thought it would eventually come to PS5, but now it appears it will launch on all platforms simultaneously.
Bellring Games’ action RPG, Mistfall Hunter, which features third-person gameplay, player-versus-environment combat, and extraction elements, is confirmed to be launching on the PS5 this July. While the exact release date within July hasn’t been announced, the launch window is set for July 2026. Currently, there are no plans for a version of the game on Nintendo Switch or the Switch 2.
Mistfall Hunter was first announced on October 17, 2024, initially planned for release on PC and Xbox Series X in 2025. The game faced a delay, pushing its release to 2026, and now a version for PlayStation 5 has been added. It’s unknown whether the delay and the new PS5 version are connected. One possibility is that the PS5 version was always planned but kept under wraps because the game was first revealed at an Xbox event. However, it’s strange that this wasn’t announced earlier if that was the case.
The world has been shattered by a massive war between the gods and ancient, powerful beings. Now, the gods are gone, and a dangerous, soul-corrupting substance called the Gyldenmist – formed from the blood of the fallen gods – is spreading across the land. You are one of the last surviving humans, struggling to rebuild civilization and find a way to stop the Gyldenmist from consuming everything.
The game lets you pick from several different character classes. You can then play alone or team up with others. It’s an extraction-based game, meaning you’ll go in, find valuable items, and try to get out safely.
So, Bellring Games is a brand new developer, and honestly, it’s tough to say what to expect from their first game. It’s a smaller title, published by Skystone Games, which usually puts out indie games. But Skystone’s track record is all over the place – some games are good, some aren’t, and they haven’t had a massive hit yet. It’s a bit of a mystery what we’re getting into, but that’s part of the fun, right?
