The highly anticipated video game of 2026 is expected to run exceptionally well on the PlayStation 5 Pro. Since the PS5 Pro launched in 2024, game performance has been inconsistent – PlayStation’s own games generally benefited from the upgrade, but some games from other companies surprisingly performed worse. However, it appears Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem will avoid this problem and deliver a great experience.
Resident Evil Requiem director Akifumi Nakanishi recently shared that the game looks and runs incredibly well on the new PS5 Pro. According to Nakanishi, the PS5 Pro can consistently deliver gameplay at 4K resolution with 60 frames per second, even with ray tracing enabled. Players who turn off ray tracing can even push the frame rate up to 120fps. Capcom dedicated significant effort to optimizing Requiem for the PS5 Pro to ensure the best possible experience.

Nakanishi shared that the PS5 Pro’s smooth, fast frame rate really stood out to him. He acknowledged people might question if the difference is noticeable, but he found that switching back to 60 frames per second felt less immersive. He explained that the increased visual detail makes the game world feel more realistic and engaging.
If Resident Evil Requiem performs as expected on the PS5 Pro, it could be the definitive way to experience the game. However, past PS5 Pro upgrades have sometimes introduced visual issues that detracted from the gameplay. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen with Requiem, as PS5 Pro owners are eagerly awaiting a major title to showcase the console’s capabilities in 2026.
The new game, Resident Evil Requiem, will be released on February 27th. It will be playable on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and computers.
