2027 Is A New Era For Persona

Fans have been waiting a while for new content, but that’s about to change. A remake fans have been hoping for is coming in 2027, and there’s even a chance we’ll finally see the sixth game in the series released on computers and consoles around the same time.

The most recent major Persona game was Persona 5, released in Japan in 2016 and internationally in 2017. Since then, Atlus, the game’s developer, has been busy improving older Persona titles, creating remakes and spin-offs, and featuring the characters from Persona 5 in various crossover games. Now, Atlus is at last releasing the games that fans have been eagerly waiting for.

Persona 4 Revival Is Finally Launching In 2027

The trend of remaking classic games continues, with Atlus recently announcing a full remake of Persona 3. Although Persona 4 Golden is already available on current consoles as a remastered version, this new Persona 3 is a complete rebuild of the game from the ground up, similar to how other recent titles have been reimagined.

In Persona 4 Revival, the quiet town of Inaba is shaken by a series of murders. The story follows a new high school student who is mysteriously pulled into the world inside their television. This happens through a strange phenomenon called the Midnight Channel, which opens doorways to dangerous dungeons filled with creatures from myth. Luckily, the student isn’t alone; they and their friends discover they can summon Personas – powerful beings from legend – giving them magical abilities to fight back.

Similar to previous Persona games like Persona 3, Persona 4 focuses on juggling everyday school life with exploring dangerous dungeons. What you do in one area directly impacts the other – building friendships in the real world makes your Persona stronger in battle.

Compared to Persona 3, which immediately establishes a world-ending crisis, Persona 4 builds its tension more gradually. The story focuses on a growing sense of unease caused by a mysterious killer. Many have favorably compared it to the ‘Diamond is Unbreakable’ arc of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, seeing it as inspiration rather than a copy.

Persona 4 Revival closely follows the Persona 4 Golden edition of the game. The initial gameplay trailer confirms this, showing familiar features like the fishing minigame and the character Marie. Marie, who assists Igor in the Velvet Room, has a detailed story arc unique to the Golden version, and players can even develop a romantic relationship with her.

Persona 4 is considered one of Atlus’s greatest games, rivaled perhaps only by Persona 5. While a remake isn’t as crucial as it was for Persona 5, fans are thrilled to revisit the world of the Midnight Channel with this new version. And the best part? It will be available on Game Pass from day one.

Persona 6 Could Release In 2027

Atlus announced both Persona 4 Revival and the long-awaited next installment, Persona 6, at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. While Persona 4 Revival was revealed, fans didn’t get much of a look at Persona 6. The game’s only trailer was very short and didn’t show any details about the story or characters – it was mostly just the title screen with some eerie images.

The biggest letdown from the Persona 6 trailer was the absence of a release date. Atlus didn’t even hint at a year like “2027,” leading many to believe the game won’t be out until 2028 or later.

There’s still a possibility that Persona 6 could come out in 2027, and Atlus might be waiting to announce a release date until they’re completely confident it will launch next year. Even if the game is delayed until 2028, Atlus plans to begin promoting it in 2024, finally giving fans a proper look at the game they’ve been eagerly anticipating since finishing Persona 5.
