Many memorable villains have appeared throughout the history of Power Rangers, like Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Ecliptor and Astronema from Power Rangers In Space, and Venjix from Power Rangers RPM. However, the creepiest Power Rangers villain of all time first appeared 25 years ago.
Back in 2000, when Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue was airing, a particularly scary villain named Queen Bansheera first appeared in the episode “Go Volcanic” on April 8th. It’s easy to forget how genuinely creepy she was, but looking at her image reveals a twisted, *Power Rangersstyle take on a frightening character like Pennywise, highlighting just how evil she was.

Queen Bansheera’s Final Power Rangers Form Was Nightmare Fuel

Queen Bansheera was the big bad in Lightspeed Rescue. The Power Rangers constantly fought to stop her plan to reclaim Mariner Bay for ancient demons who once controlled Earth. As the show progressed, she became increasingly powerful and dangerous.
The show starts with her as a weakened spirit, and the demons’ headquarters, Skull Cavern, is underwater – a place where they’re vulnerable. She slowly rebuilds her physical form and attempts to destroy Earth with a meteor, but the Power Rangers stop her. She finally recovers completely by draining Vypra’s energy, transforming into her strongest and most terrifying form, as shown below.
Bansheera has incredible powers, including the ability to change her size to match the Megazord and teleport herself and others. She can attack with a powerful sonic scream and also possesses telepathy, telekinesis, and the ability to create fire and lightning. Additionally, she can pull objects towards her with a tractor beam and even plunge the entire world into darkness, which weakens the Zords and drains their power.

It’s disappointing that the villain doesn’t get much time to battle the Megazord before being overcome, though she survives. Ultimately, the Power Rangers only manage to defeat her with an unlikely alliance: the spirit of Diabolico and her own demonic followers, who turn against her and banish her to the Shadow World for her treachery.
Although she wasn’t the strongest character, her final design is easily the most frightening villain in the series.
