Batman is a top-tier hero in the DC Universe, and fans often debate which Marvel hero he’s most similar to. It’s tricky to find a good match, with suggestions ranging from Iron Man to Wolverine and even Deadpool – especially after their recent team-ups. While there isn’t a perfect counterpart, the most straightforward answer is probably the right one.
Daredevil and Batman are remarkably similar heroes. Both experienced deeply traumatic childhoods, dedicated their lives to becoming highly skilled fighters, and rely on specialized equipment. While differences exist – Bruce Wayne has his wealth, and Matt Murdock his faith – they share core qualities. This became clear when they first teamed up in a comic book nearly 30 years ago, which also featured a perfect villain for both of them.
Two-Face Was at the Center of Batman and Daredevil’s Team-Up

The comic Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye, created by D.G. Chichester, Scott McDaniel, Derek Fisher, Bill Oakley, and Gregory Wright, features a team-up between Batman’s enemy Two-Face and the villain Mister Hyde. They steal a special computer chip that can grow inside the brain. Two-Face intends to betray Hyde by implanting the chip in him and then taking it once it’s fully developed. But Batman follows Two-Face to New York, leading to a showdown with Daredevil.
When Daredevil and Batman first meet, they initially clash, but quickly team up to stop Two-Face from killing Hyde and stealing a valuable chip. During their investigation, a surprising connection is revealed: Harvey Dent, before becoming Two-Face, was actually friends with Matt Murdock (Daredevil) in law school. This shared history proves useful when confronting Two-Face, allowing the heroes to talk him out of killing Hyde. They successfully retrieve the chip, bringing their first team-up to a close.
Giving Daredevil a Lawyer Villain is a Pretty Clever Move

There are a lot of ways Matt Murdock and Bruce Wayne are alike, but what really stands out to me about this story is the choice of Two-Face as the villain. They could have easily used a classic crime boss like the Penguin, given Daredevil’s history. Instead, Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye chose a villain with a personal connection to Matt’s life as a lawyer. This decision brilliantly establishes an emotional link to Daredevil’s past by showing that he and Two-Face used to be friends.
It’s surprising how few Marvel villains have legal backgrounds – the Beetle is the only one that comes to mind. It makes sense that more lawyers become heroes, since their profession is about upholding the law. However, bringing Two-Face into this story is a great fit. Both he and Daredevil (Matt Murdock) initially believed in the justice system and both were profoundly impacted by tragic accidents. The key difference is that Matt used his experience to fight for good, while Harvey Dent’s accident led him to lose faith and become a villain.
With the recent trend of Marvel and DC characters teaming up, it would be great to see a continuation of the Batman and Daredevil story. Two-Face has been a compelling character lately, and exploring how both heroes react to him would be fascinating for fans. While it might be unlikely, the original Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye remains a fantastic story with a truly memorable villain for this dynamic duo.
