2XKO Blitzcrank Reveal Trailer Breakdown: Grapple Tips

The 2XKO Blitzcrank reveal trailer has dropped, and so have my command grab inputs!

Riot Games has showcased the next grappler-focused fighter being the long-armed robot.

But what is up his long sleeves, and will this be just Android 16 with a screen grab?

2XKO Blitzcrank Reveal

Ever since Blitzcrank debuted in League of Legends: Blitzcrank, he’s gained quite a reputation as one of the most recognized robots within gaming. Given this popularity, Riot Games decided to give credit to his iconic move – the grabber hook! Quite clever, if I may say so myself.

Instead of just resembling a more muscular Scorpion from the reveal trailer, 2XKO Blitzcrank appears to have a similar feel. To begin with, his Get Over Here ability is depicted by a screen grab. Notably, this ability also grabs opponents even if they are trying to defend by blocking, which makes turtling (a defensive strategy) a riskier move.

Furthermore, just as some effective claws can also attack from a diagonal position for small enemies, he possesses an anti-air version. For fairness, if this grab fails, it exposes you to severe retaliation, making you vulnerable to significant damage.

His wife is very telling, letting you know with question marks that the player messed up.

Instead of his wind-up being just a part of Blitzcrank’s routine in the 2XKO mode, it’s particularly intriguing because it resembles Jack from Tekken’s spinning motion. During this wind-up, Blitzcrank electrifies his special moves. Unlike regular gameplay, when he enters this state, his long-range command doesn’t immediately result in a hit. Instead, it stuns the opponent, setting up for additional combo damage.

This enhanced 2XKO Blitzcrank, indicated by the steaming vents at his back, offers additional choices when it comes to his grappling abilities. The question is whether to inflict instant damage or rely on the bonus effect lasting longer for future plays.

Furthermore, he crashes in, almost demolishing everything around, utilizing his high-flying attack. It offers fewer opportunities for counterattacks but boasts impressive combo potential due to the prolonged stunned state upon impact. However, it seems everyone prefers to repeatedly use his Q move instead of exploring other techniques.

Clankers Go Home

Among numerous playtesters of 2XKO Blitzcrank, it’s been noted that he demonstrates a high proficiency in his Tag Combo moves. It seems that initiating a tag combo following one of his grabs is quite straightforward, likely because the grab animations have a lengthy duration. Consequently, playtesters frequently found themselves inflicting substantial tag damage after successful grabs.

From the Tag side, I find that he seems to be weak in the assist department, as I didn’t observe any assists during play. However, his air cross-up move appears incredibly simple, almost like Zangief’s Alpha neutral but with a significantly larger hitbox, making it easier for him to cross up opponents. Yet, since I haven’t witnessed any assists from him, there might be potential for impressive ones that I didn’t get to see.

In simpler terms, grapplers’ success hinges on their balance skills. At first sight, Blitzcrank (2XKO) appears competent. However, unless he possesses extraordinary teleportation or aerial dashes during his launch, I don’t anticipate him causing too much trouble in a fight.

As a gamer, let me tell you, grapplers in battles, they’re a real mix – adored by some, disdained by others, and usually the latter when you find yourself squaring off against a skilled one! However, until I can get my hands on him post-launch, his arsenal looks solid and promising.

Perhaps just lab some Zangief and Scorpion while you wait.
