Okay, so as a PlayStation Plus member, I’m pretty stoked! This Halloween, we’re getting three awesome AAA horror games for free on PS5. It’s a bit of a bummer that the games coming out in October 2025 don’t seem to have much horror going on, so thankfully we’ve got these to tide us over. The best part? One of these games is free with *any* PS Plus subscription, but the other two are only for Extra or Premium members. Still, three free horror games is a great deal!
These three highly-rated horror games for PlayStation would usually cost around $190, but this is a fantastic deal. Two of them are considered among the best horror titles on the PS5, and the third is a standout horror game from the PS4 era.
Silent Hill 2
The recently released *Silent Hill 2* is a remake of the critically acclaimed 2001 game by Team Silent. Developed by Bloober Team, the remake has been praised for its story and atmosphere, earning an 87 on Metacritic and five nominations at The Game Awards. Many consider it the best horror game of 2024 and one of the top titles on the PlayStation 5. Starting October 21st, the game will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers with certain membership levels.
Tiers: PS Plus Extra, PS Plus Premium
Alan Wake 2
Released in 2023, Alan Wake 2 is a story-focused survival-horror game that many PS Plus subscribers are calling the best-looking game ever offered with the service. Developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games, it’s the sequel to the 2010 hit Alan Wake. Critics widely praised it as the best horror game of 2023, and one of the year’s best games overall, even calling it one of the best horror titles on the PS5. It currently has a score of 89 on Metacritic and has been nominated for eight awards at The Game Awards, including Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative. PS Plus members can play it for free until November 4th.
Tiers: PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium
Until Dawn
Until Dawn is a horror game that combines interactive storytelling with survival elements. Originally released in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive developed by Supermassive Games, it received positive reviews, earning a score of 79 on Metacritic and being praised as one of the year’s best horror titles. A remake for the PlayStation 5 came out in 2024 and is currently available to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Similar to Silent Hill 2, it will be included with certain PlayStation Plus membership levels starting October 21st.
