As the weather gets colder and the holidays approach, it’s the perfect time to relax at home with a movie on Netflix. Netflix has always been a popular choice for streaming, and they offer a huge selection of both classic films and original content, making it the ideal spot for a movie marathon.
With so many movies available, deciding what to watch can be tough. But with genres for everyone, you can easily create a great three-movie marathon on Netflix. It’s a platform that really does have something for all tastes, making it perfect for a relaxing movie night.
Collateral (2004)
I’m a huge Michael Mann fan, and Collateral is one of his best! It’s got that classic Mann style – super cool visuals mixed with a really gripping crime story. The movie starts with a regular taxi driver picking up a strange passenger who offers him a lot of money to drive him around. It quickly becomes clear something’s not right, and the film is packed with twists and turns, plus amazing acting. It’s a really smart, neo-noir thriller that keeps you guessing!
One of the most interesting things about the film is Tom Cruise’s unexpected performance; he’s fantastic playing a role that isn’t his typical hero. As you’d expect, Collateral is visually stunning, and it’s some of director Michael Mann’s finest work. Its quick pace and famous actors make it a great choice for a movie marathon.
I Love You, Man (2009)
The 2000s were a fantastic time for funny movies, and I Love You, Man really captured the spirit of that era. The film centers on a busy professional who unexpectedly becomes close friends with someone who gets him, but this new, intense friendship—a “bromance”—starts to affect his other relationships. Jason Segel and Paul Rudd have incredible comedic chemistry, and the movie is simply delightful.
Because it’s a lighthearted and easy watch, I Love You, Man is the ideal comfort movie – you can watch it again and again. It’s perfect for a Netflix marathon, whether you need something to break up more serious shows or just want a quick pick-me-up. With fewer genuinely funny comedies being made recently, it’s worth revisiting older films like this one when you’re looking for a good laugh.
The Purge: Anarchy (2014)
The Purge: Anarchy is the follow-up to the 2013 film, but you don’t need to have seen the first one to understand and enjoy it. The movie centers around a group of people trying to survive a night where all crime is legal. It’s more intense than the original, combining action with elements of horror and suspense.
Most binge-watching sessions include at least a few moments of being spooked, and The Purge: Anarchy is the perfect choice for those who get easily frightened. It’s scary enough to keep things interesting for horror fans, but not so intense that it will scare away anyone new to the genre. While Netflix offers many horror options, few are as easy to enjoy as this sequel to The Purge.
