This weekend, Prime Video offers a variety of entertaining movies spanning different genres. Last week’s selection focused on horror, so this week I’ve chosen a more diverse lineup to give subscribers some fresh options.
Prime Video has a lot of great movies right now, and this weekend, I recommend checking out an action-packed adventure film, one of the funniest comedies we’ve seen recently, and a critically acclaimed sports drama. Here’s what’s worth watching on Prime Video this weekend:
3. Twisters (2024)
First up is Twisters. This new movie is a continuation of the original disaster film, but it tells its own story, taking inspiration from the first one. It follows a team of thrill-seekers who chase tornadoes, and like the original, it delivers intense and frightening scenes of these powerful storms.
Twisters is an exciting film, boosted by the charming performances of Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell. They have fantastic chemistry, making their scenes together a joy to watch, particularly because their characters, Kate and Tyler, are so different – Kate is focused and determined, while Tyler loves to show off. The movie also features a talented supporting cast, including David Corenswet (known from Superman) and Anthony Ramos (from Ironheart).
2. The Naked Gun (2025)
If you enjoyed recent hits on Prime Video, you’ll likely love the new movie based on The Naked Gun. Known for his action roles, Liam Neeson surprises everyone with a genuinely funny performance – it’s one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time.
While The Naked Gun’s humor isn’t for all tastes, its silliness and Liam Neeson’s deadpan delivery of ridiculous lines are surprisingly refreshing. Pamela Anderson is great in it too, and the movie features a truly unexpected and memorable snowman scene – a standout moment of 2025.
1. Challengers (2024)
I’m a little bummed to share that Challengers is leaving Prime Video on January 18th! That means we only have about a week left to watch it. Seriously, this movie was a huge hit this year – I was totally hooked by the story and the complicated relationship between Patrick, Art, and Tashi. It’s a really gripping sports drama, and I definitely recommend checking it out before it’s gone!
Challengers is a captivating and beautifully filmed love story that unfolds over time, using the world of tennis as its setting. Director Luca Guadagnino, a tennis enthusiast, brilliantly captures the energy of the sport, and the film’s editing and music are exceptional. Viewers with a Prime Video subscription are in for a treat.
