3 Cancelled Sci-Fi TV Shows That Should Be Revived Next After Firefly

As a sci-fi fan, I’m thrilled to report that Firefly is officially returning! And honestly, I’m hoping this is just the beginning. An animated series is in the works, continuing the story of the fantastic 2002 show that was tragically cut short after just one season. Firefly fans have been begging for more for years, and now, it’s finally happening – which has a lot of us hoping our other favorite cancelled sci-fi shows might get a second chance too.

Lots of great sci-fi shows ended before their time, and everyone has a favorite that deserves a second chance. This list focuses on just three shows I believe are particularly worthy of being brought back – either because their stories were left unfinished or because they’d likely succeed more easily now. Here are three sci-fi series that should be considered for a continuation, following the example of Firefly.

3) Raised by Wolves

HBO’s sci-fi series Raised by Wolves was critically acclaimed, but sadly ended after just two seasons. The cancellation was a result of the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery. Now that things have stabilized, many fans believe the show deserves a revival. It was a truly original and visually stunning sci-fi program, and nothing else has quite captured the same feeling for its devoted audience.

2) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Despite being canceled after just two seasons, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles remains a highlight of the Terminator series after the original films. With the success of expanded universes on TV like those in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars, Amazon MGM Studios should revive the show and finally tell the rest of John Connor’s story.

1) Ash vs. Evil Dead

While Ash vs. Evil Dead was primarily a horror-comedy during its run, the show was planned to evolve into a science fiction series before its cancellation. The first three seasons followed Ash, Pablo, and Kelly as they battled Deadites across the country. The season finale saw Ash seemingly sacrifice himself to defeat Kandar, but he was recovered by the Knights of Sumeria and put into cryosleep. The plan was for Ash to awaken in a post-apocalyptic future, equipped with a robotic hand, a cyborg assistant, and a futuristic car, and continue fighting Deadites – effectively turning the show into a sci-fi adventure.

The fourth season of Ash vs. Evil Dead had a promising sci-fi storyline, but the show was cancelled after only three seasons, leaving fans with an unresolved cliffhanger. Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi have since tried to revive the story, potentially as a fourth season or an animated series, but weren’t successful. With the recent success of Evil Dead Rise and plans for two more Evil Dead movies, there’s now renewed hope that this sci-fi continuation could finally happen.
