Despite what fans were hoping for, Chainsaw Man won’t be continuing with a third part. The ending has been particularly upsetting for many, as it reveals that everything that happened over the series’ 200+ chapters was actually just a dream of Denji’s. Now, he’s in a new reality where Pochita and Chainsaw Man are gone.
Although the ending might not fully satisfy everyone, some parts are still strong and have resonated with fans. Seeing favorite characters like Power and Nayuta return, now living alongside Denji and offering him a brighter future, was a definite highlight. However, it feels odd that three important characters were left out completely.
3) Makima

Makima was central to the first part of Chainsaw Man, driving the entire story. After a recent plot twist sent the story back to before Denji met Makima, many fans anticipated her return. Instead, the series has introduced a new character, Nayuta, without offering any explanation for Makima’s absence.
Even though Nayuta is also a Control Devil, she’s distinct from Makima, and the story simply eliminates her without explanation. This feels like a significant flaw in the ending, because even a small suggestion of Makima’s lingering presence could have made the sudden reset feel less jarring for viewers.
2) Reze

Although Reze didn’t have a large amount of screen time, she was a remarkably important character. She was the first person to show Denji what it meant to truly love, and viewers were left hoping for a happy ending for them. Given that the story revisited past events and brought characters back to life, it was surprising – and disappointing – that Reze’s fate wasn’t addressed at all.
The ending feels incomplete because it doesn’t fully deliver on Denji’s desire for love, only suggesting a possible connection with Asa. A reunion with Reze, given the new timeline, would have been a satisfying conclusion for both characters. The fact that Reze isn’t included or even mentioned is a noticeable flaw in an otherwise complex ending.
1) Aki Hayakawa

Although it’s somewhat understandable why Makima and Reze weren’t included, Aki Hayakawa’s absence feels particularly strange. He was a major character – the second lead, in fact – throughout the first part of the series, and many fans even liked him more than Power.
The ending of Chainsaw Man feels particularly unsatisfying because it brings Power back without Aki, breaking up the core trio. The alternate timeline presented a chance to give Aki a happier fate, avoiding his previously inevitable death. However, the series doesn’t even show him finding peace elsewhere, and simply excludes him. While the ending was already rushed and flawed, the lack of Aki’s positive resolution makes it even more disappointing for fans, as it missed an opportunity to provide some satisfaction.
