Since its release in 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has become a global hit, and the new Netflix movie is sure to leave viewers eager for a sequel. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a while for KPop Demon Hunters 2. Until then, there are other things to enjoy, though nothing quite captures the unique mix of K-pop and the supernatural that the film does.
Look, KPop Demon Hunters is still on hiatus, but I’ve been searching for shows that capture a similar vibe, and I’ve found a few worth checking out while we wait. If you’re an animation fan, you’re in luck – there’s a ton of action-packed anime, and even some musical ones, that really reminded me of the Netflix film. Live-action is a bit trickier, but I’ve identified three shows that share enough similarities to be worth your time if you’re missing that KPop Demon Hunters energy.
3) Buffy the Vampire Slayer

If you’re into the supernatural action and teen drama of KPop Demon Hunters, let me tell you, you absolutely need to check out Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Seriously, this 1997 series was groundbreaking in how it portrayed strong, capable women – something KPop Demon Hunters fans will definitely appreciate. It’s a really fun, fast-paced show with a heroine, Buffy, who’s constantly balancing two very different worlds, much like Rumi. Throw in some forbidden romance, awesome female friendships, and even a full-blown musical episode – “Once More, With Feeling” is a must-see! – and you’ve got a winner. Okay, the special effects might look a little dated now, but honestly, everything else still holds up beautifully. If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and give Buffy a shot – I think KPop Demon Hunters fans will be hooked.
2) Shadowhunters

If you like the mix of action and drama in KPop Demon Hunters, you might also enjoy Shadowhunters. This Freeform series, based on Cassandra Clare’s books, features similar elements like romance, hidden identities, and exciting fights. While it can be a little over-the-top sometimes, that’s part of what makes it balance lighthearted fun with more serious themes – just like KPop Demon Hunters does. The show didn’t finish its run, but there’s a whole series of books you can dive into if you’re hooked.
1) Lucifer

If you loved the romance between Rumi and Jinu, I think you’ll really enjoy Lucifer. It’s about a woman who falls for someone hiding a huge secret – he’s literally the devil! Like Jinu, Lucifer’s journey to redemption is so captivating, though it unfolds a bit more slowly, which honestly lets you really soak it all in. His relationship with Chloe has that same fun, playful energy and a touch of sadness that I adored in KPop Demon Hunters. It’s a police procedural, so the characters are a little older and the overall vibe is different from the animated movie. But trust me, if you’re into supernatural stories, it’s a fantastic live-action series to check out.
