The Winter 2026 anime season kicks off in January, and fans are eagerly anticipating a fresh lineup of shows. Anime is becoming increasingly popular, and Netflix is playing a larger role with new projects. As a major streaming service, Netflix constantly adds new features and content. While viewers look forward to returning favorites like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Hell’s Paradise next month, Netflix also has a slate of original anime series set to premiere.
I noticed that the One Piece anime will be taking a break in January. This means, for the first time in a long time, we won’t be getting new episodes weekly. But it’s not all bad news! Instead, on January 15th, 2026, they’re planning to release 15 episodes of One Piece’s East Blue Saga, but remastered in HD. And as a bonus, the streaming service will also be adding three brand new, original anime series.
3) Pokémon Horizons: Season 3—Rising Hope (Part 1)

The new season will premiere on January 6th, 2026, with 11 episodes that pick up the story a year after the events in Laqua. Liko and Roy return as they work to rebuild the Rising Volt Tacklers, a team currently without a leader. Joining them is Dot, Roy’s Lucario, who’s skilled at gathering information, and Ult, who’s declared himself Roy’s new rival. Throughout their adventures, Liko, Roy, and Dot will also investigate a strange pink mist that’s affecting Pokémon in the area.
2) Cosmic Princess Kaguya!

Coming to Netflix on January 26, 2026, is a new animated film called Cosmic Princess Kaguya! It’s a fresh take on the classic Japanese story, The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. The film marks the first feature-length directorial work for Shingo Yamashita, who’s known for directing exciting opening sequences in anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. Cosmic Princess Kaguya! tells the story of two girls who connect through music and find themselves performing in the imaginative virtual world of Tsukuyomi.
1) Love Through a Prism

On January 15th, 2026, WIT Studio will release a new anime series called Love Through a Prism. The story is an original work by Yoko Kamio, the popular manga artist behind hits like Boys Over Flowers, Cat Street, and Matsuri Special. Set in the early 1900s, the series follows Lili Ichijouin, a Japanese student who travels to the esteemed Saint Thomas Art Academy. Lili is under pressure to excel – her parents will only allow her to continue her studies if she achieves top marks. Along the way, she meets Kit Church, a talented classmate who is keeping secrets of his own.
