In the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, three of the original Avengers team members will meet the Fantastic Four, which is a big step forward for the MCU’s ongoing story about the multiverse. Although specific details are still under wraps, the film promises important interactions that could change how these classic heroes and Marvel’s first family relate to each other.
Thor and Steve will unite with Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor in Avengers: Doomsday
Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are returning as Thor and Captain America in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday. A post on X (formerly Twitter) by @MyTimeToShineHello suggests that Thor and Captain America are already aboard Doctor Doom’s ship before it enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This implies they’ll be involved with Doom early in the story, potentially before the main plot of the film even begins.
Robert Downey Jr.’s version of Victor Von Doom in the movie leads a team of masked assistants – both male and female. According to Daniel Richtman, it’s currently unknown if these assistants are alternate versions of Doom himself or simply loyal followers. Rumors suggest some of them look like different versions of Downey’s character, and when they remove their masks, they could be familiar faces like Scarlet Witch or Tony Stark.
Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston, Robert Downey Jr., and several other familiar faces. The movie also introduces new characters played by Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and others. Plus, expect to see returning MCU favorites like Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, alongside India Rose Hemsworth as Love and Mabel Cadena as Namora.
The film is directed by the Russo Brothers, with a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. Marvel plans to release it on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. The movie centers around battles across different universes, featuring the Fantastic Four, the growing power of Doctor Doom, and dangers created by alternate versions of characters and problems with the timeline.
