Though most fans have a personal favorite, the two movies directed by Tim Burton are generally regarded as being particularly influential.

Tim Burton directed two Batman films, starting with Batman in 1989 and continuing with Batman Returns in 1992. In those two films, he brought not only Batman himself to life on screen, but also iconic villains like the Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman, portrayed by Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and Michelle Pfeiffer, respectively. Burton’s Batman films are still widely enjoyed, even when compared to newer versions, and many believe this is due to the director’s distinctive vision for the character and its world.
