The new Netflix thriller series, His & Hers, based on Alice Feeney’s novel, has a truly shocking twist that’s getting a lot of attention. If you enjoy suspenseful thrillers, this one will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. And if you’re looking for more shows like it, or books that could be adapted into similar series, there are plenty of options—some of which share common themes with His & Hers.
Thrillers are becoming increasingly popular, with books like The Woman in Cabin 10 and The Housemaid recently becoming movies. With shows already being developed based on hits like Ashley Elston’s First Lie Wins and Liz Moore’s The God of the Woods, there’s a lot of potential for more adaptations. If this trend continues, Hollywood should consider turning these three newer thrillers into TV shows or films.
3) What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall

Shows like His & Hers prove that small-town mysteries have a lasting appeal. Kate Alice Marshall’s What Lies in the Woods uses a classic setup—a woman returning to her hometown—which effectively highlights the unique relationships within close-knit communities. While the book quickly diverges from His & Hers, that initial connection was enough to make me hope it gets turned into a TV series.
The story in What Lies in the Woods would be perfect for a TV series. The show could easily switch between past and present events, and portray the main character as someone whose memories might not be entirely accurate. The novel centers around a woman who wonders if she sent the wrong person to prison after a childhood attack. By combining her uncertain recollections with clues about the people around her, the show – just like the book – could keep audiences guessing until the very end.
2) The Last One at the Wedding by Jason Rekulak

Jason Rekulak’s new thriller, The Last One at the Wedding, is similar to His & Hers in its blend of intense relationships and hidden secrets. However, this story centers on a father who isn’t close to his daughter. He receives a wedding invitation and finds himself questioning everything when he learns she’s marrying a very wealthy tech mogul.
The story gets increasingly bizarre as it progresses, with unexpected turns that would translate well to a visual medium. The contrast between the glamorous wedding and stately setting, and the dark events unfolding within them, makes this novel particularly well-suited for a TV adaptation. Seeing these twists and turns play out on screen would be captivating and could amplify the story’s surprises.
1) All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham

Stacy Willingham’s novels are well-suited for television or film adaptations, and her latest book, All the Dangerous Things, could be as popular as her previous work, His & Hers. The story features a narrator who isn’t trustworthy—she struggles with sleep—and a complicated relationship with her ex-husband, creating instant suspense. All the Dangerous Things centers on a mother whose one-year-old son disappeared from his crib. While others, including her ex, believe he’s gone forever, she refuses to give up hope and is determined to find him.
She teams up with a true-crime podcaster to investigate the mystery herself, which annoys those close to her. The truth she finds is surprisingly shocking and wildly unexpected. This kind of twisty ending is perfect for a thrilling TV adaptation, and this story would definitely deliver.
