One significant factor contributing to the dominance of the manga series “Naruto” within the shonen genre wasn’t solely due to its captivating characters, but also the extraordinary attacks derived from the ninjutsu known as “jutsus”. While popular techniques such as Naruto’s Rasengan and Sasuke’s Chidori remain popular in the series, there are several lesser-known jutsus that deserve recognition. With this thought in mind, it appears appropriate to delve into Naruto’s history and choose three of these often overlooked techniques that could potentially make a comeback.
The success of the manga series “Naruto” in the shonen genre can be attributed not only to its fascinating characters but also the powerful jutsus, or ninjutsu attacks, it features. Although well-known techniques like Naruto’s Rasengan and Sasuke’s Chidori continue to capture attention, there are several lesser-used techniques that deserve a second chance. This being said, let’s take a look back at Naruto’s past and identify three of these underutilized jutsus with the potential for a resurgence.
Rock Lee’s Drunken Fist

Although Rock Lee’s attack doesn’t grant him a fox-powered energy ninja suit or the capacity to create a sky-high meteor, his taijutsu technique remains one of the most striking moves in the ninja’s repertoire. Regrettably, we’ve only witnessed Lee employing this power in the initial Naruto series during his battle against Kimimaro with the bone weapons. Remarkably, Lee displayed immense strength with the Drunken Fist, even though he wasn’t fully aware of his actions.
Throughout his ninja career, Rock Lee has largely abstained from drinking, except once when he mistakenly drank from the wrong container during a fight against Orochimaru’s henchmen. This left him impaired and at a disadvantage, but he was eventually rescued by Gaara. In the Boruto series, Rock Lee is not as prominent, having passed his role to his son, Metal Lee. It would be great if one of the Lees could reintroduce the Drunken Fist technique, as it’s a skill worth reviving.
Body Pathway Derangement Jutsu

Initially appearing in the Naruto series, Tsunade demonstrated an impressive power level that made her a strong contender for Hokage. Her vast medical knowledge allowed her to create jutsus that were beyond the understanding of most others. One such example is the “Body Pathway Derangement Jutsu”, which showcased the combination of profound biological expertise with destructive physical assaults.
During her battle against Kabuto, Orochimaru’s former right hand, Tsunade utilizes a unique move, sending an electric shock that severely impaired the enemy. This electricity travels through the adversary’s nervous system, causing their motor skills to falter, making it impossible for them to launch an attack. Although Tsunade has had limited appearances in both “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” and “Boroto: Two Blue Vortex,” there is a possibility that either Sakura or Sarada could use this same technique in the future, potentially reintroducing it into the storyline.
Clone Great Explosion

Mastering this skill could significantly alter the fate of Hidden Leaf Village or even the entire Ninja World, should Naruto or Boruto grasp it. Remarkably, it was Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke’s brother, who mastered this technique – producing clones capable of detonating at critical moments. Despite his vast powers stemming from his unique bloodline and the Sharingan, it was evident that Itachi, the one responsible for his clan’s demise, continuously honed his skills to ensure he remained a formidable adversary.
It might be challenging to rely on Itachi for this technique in the future since he’s deceased, but it doesn’t mean the move can’t be taught to someone else. There are still Uchiha alive today, though it was never definitively proven that only a Uchiha can create an exploding clone. Here’s hoping Boruto Uzumaki might learn this enhanced technique someday, making each of his clones more powerful.
