3 Upcoming Horror Games That Could Rival Silent Hill

I’ve been a huge fan of Silent Hill for years, and like a lot of other players, I’ve seen the series go through some amazing highs and, yeah, a few lows. What always drew me in was that perfect blend of scary survival horror and really messing with your head. We’ve been craving something new to fill that void for a long time! Konami has started announcing a few Silent Hill games, which is great, but there’s still a gap. Luckily, it feels like a lot of talented developers are making some seriously impressive horror games right now. I’m really excited because I think over the next few months, and even further down the line, we’re going to see some games that could really rival Silent Hill in terms of quality and scares.

Here are three upcoming horror games that Silent Hill fans should keep an eye on.

3) Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival

I’m so excited for Hellraiser: Revival! Saber Interactive is making it, and while we don’t have an exact release date yet – it’s aiming for 2026 – I have a feeling it’s going to be huge. Knowing Clive Barker’s work, it’s definitely going to be way more graphic than Silent Hill, but I’ve seen some designs that actually remind me a little of the creatures from that game – in a good way! It’s going to be intense.

In this terrifying first-person survival horror game, you’ll fight against the Cenobites and rely on powers from the mysterious Genesis Configuration puzzle box. Be warned: it’s significantly more graphic than games like Silent Hill, leaning closer to the intensity of Outlast. If you can handle the gore, though, you’ll find a genuinely frightening and well-made horror experience.

2) Nowhere

Nowhere draws heavy inspiration from Norse mythology, a fact that’s clear from the game’s visuals. The misty environments are reminiscent of Silent Hill, but with an ancient, historical setting.

The team at Midnight Forge is shifting the focus away from pure action in their game, Nowhere. While it includes some survival horror, a significant part of the gameplay revolves around detective work. You’ll explore old, ancient-looking forest settlements, but you’ll have access to modern tools to help you solve the mystery of what’s happening in Nowhere.

You’re free to explore the game’s world however you like. Nowhere doesn’t follow a strict story path, letting you choose which mysteries to investigate and giving you a lot of control over how the game unfolds. It’s a good idea to find a safe place to hide, because the forest holds unknown dangers.

1) OD

Before his departure from Konami, Hideo Kojima created a well-known demo called P.T., which was a preview of a new Silent Hill game his team was developing. Unfortunately, the game was canceled due to a falling out between Kojima and Konami.

I was so hyped when Kojima Productions announced new projects after Death Stranding! They’re working on this really interesting horror game called OD with Xbox Game Studios and Jordan Peele – how cool is that? We don’t know a ton about it yet, except that it’s going to be an anthology, meaning it’ll be a collection of scary stories. But it sounds amazing, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long – it’s supposedly coming out sometime in the next few years!

Since we don’t know much about OD yet, it’s hard to predict how it will compare to Silent Hill. However, because Hideo Kojima was developing a horror game within that series, fans are excited and hoping OD will capture some of the spirit of that unreleased title. With Death Stranding 2 now released, we expect to learn more about OD in the coming months.
