The ending of Chainsaw Man came as a surprise to many, feeling quite sudden. Fans had hoped the story would continue with a third part, particularly because the second part left several questions unanswered after over a hundred chapters. Instead, the final twist forces viewers to accept a new reality where Denji’s current life is now the established storyline.
Given how much of the story remained unresolved, the ending feels abrupt. There were many paths the manga could have taken, but three possibilities seem particularly promising for continuing the story and providing fans with more weekly chapters of Chainsaw Man.
3) Fulfilling Denji’s Dream of Getting a Girlfriend

Denji’s motivation for fighting dangerous monsters often came down to wanting to attract girls and find a girlfriend. Though he frequently talked about wanting a romantic relationship, this was actually a way to cope with his loneliness and a hope that having a girlfriend would bring some stability to his difficult life. The story only briefly suggests a potential romance between Denji and Asa.
Many Shonen Jump stories focus on characters achieving their dreams, so it felt unsatisfying when the series ended without the main character reaching his. The story could have continued by exploring the romantic relationship with Asa, which many fans wanted to see developed.
2) Chainsaw Man Part 3

A natural next step for the series would have been to immediately announce Chainsaw Man Part 3 after the surprising conclusion of Part 2. This continuation could have expanded on the reality-bending twist, diving deeper into the new world and introducing fresh storylines as Denji adapts to his changed circumstances.
The ending of Chainsaw Man is confusing and leaves a lot to unpack. While Part 3 is odd, it’s also captivating, which is typical for this series. The story could have really challenged our understanding of reality – was the new ending the true reality, or what we saw in the first two parts? Unfortunately, the series didn’t quite deliver on that potential.
1) Expanding the Final Battle In Hell

Throughout Chainsaw Man, Hell was often mentioned as a central and significant place – the origin of all devils. As the fight between the War Devil and Chainsaw Man reached its climax, many fans anticipated the story would finally take place there. Surprisingly, the series didn’t fully show us Hell, only giving quick glimpses even as the battle ended.
The story could have been more compelling by focusing on a power struggle within Hell and introducing a new, major villain. This would have given Yoru and Chainsaw Man a chance to team up, strengthening their relationship and potentially leading to a romance between Denji and Asa. Choosing to end the story without exploring Hell meant missing an opportunity to show even more powerful devils, which could have resulted in a more fulfilling ending instead of the one we got.
