3 Years Later, Predator’s Best Movie Is Finally Coming to Theaters

The original *Predator* is a classic 1980s sci-fi action-horror film that still excites viewers today. It launched a successful franchise, but for years, no sequel lived up to the quality of the first movie. That changed with the 2022 release of *Prey* on Hulu. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, *Prey* revitalized interest in the *Predator* series, with critics especially praising Amber Midthunder’s performance and the film’s impressive action. Although *Prey* was a streaming success, many viewers wished they could have experienced it in theaters. Thankfully, that’s about to happen.

This fall, 20th Century Studios is hosting a special double feature of *Prey* and the new movie *Predator: Badlands* at AMC Theatres. According to Bloody Disgusting, the event will happen on November 5th, giving fans an early look at *Badlands*. Currently, the ticket information page on AMC’s website isn’t available, so keep checking back for updates.

Will Predator Be Successful in Its Return to Theaters?

With the success of *Prey*, tickets for the *Predator* double feature are expected to be popular. *Prey* is considered a standout film in the franchise – a return to the series’ roots after *The Predator* didn’t quite hit the mark, while still offering something new. Many fans were likely planning to rewatch *Prey* before the release of *Badlands*, making AMC’s double feature an ideal way to experience it on the big screen.

It will be fascinating to see how the re-release of *Predator* performs in theaters. While the last two films, *Prey* and *Predator: Killer of Killers*, were successful on Hulu, it’s now often easier for movies to gain popularity through streaming services than in cinemas. Many viewers prefer the convenience of watching at home. Streaming actually helped *Prey* succeed; it didn’t have to compete with other films in theaters and could quickly gain attention on Hulu.

The success of the new *Predator* films – both the double feature and the standalone *Badlands* – may depend on what people say about them. Interestingly, the producers of *Predator: Badlands* are trying to get a PG-13 rating, which is different from the R ratings of past *Predator* movies. This is possible because *Badlands* doesn’t feature any human characters, meaning less graphic violence. However, some fans are hesitant about this change. If *Badlands* feels too toned down compared to *Prey*, it could negatively impact how audiences react to both films.

Before we hear what people think of *Predator: Badlands*, fans should enjoy the double feature as a way to celebrate a fresh start for the *Predator* series. *Badlands* ties into the *Alien* universe through Weyland-Yutani, and the filmmakers are hoping it leads to more exciting installments. Director Trachtenberg has plans for future films if *Badlands* does well. Attending the double feature is a great way to show support for *Prey*, which revitalized the franchise, and then experience what Trachtenberg has created with *Badlands*.
