Filming for Ahsoka season 2 finished in late October 2025, and it’s anticipated to be released sometime in 2026, though an official date hasn’t been revealed. Currently, Ahsoka is the only confirmed live-action Star Wars show in development, following a period where live-action series were the main focus of the franchise. These factors have generated a lot of excitement and speculation about what’s coming in season 2.
The show’s storyline is a major source of interest and discussion, especially since the first season ended with many unanswered questions. Viewers are eager to know what Anakin’s Force Ghost will do on Peridea and what will become of Baylan Skoll’s search for the Mortis Gods. This latter mystery has sparked numerous fan theories, and a hidden detail from Ahsoka season 1 might provide some clues.
A Winged Creature In Ahsoka Has A Major Clone Wars Connection

Viewers quickly noticed the Convor Morai in season 1 of Ahsoka and remembered it from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. However, many didn’t realize another winged creature also had a significant connection to The Clone Wars. Morai, the owl-like bird often seen with Ahsoka in both Ahsoka and Star Wars Rebels, first appeared in The Clone Wars during the ‘Mortis Gods’ storyline. This arc also introduced the powerful trio of gods: the Father, the Son, and the Daughter.
In the Star Wars universe, the Daughter, the Son, and the Father were powerful beings representing the light, the dark, and the balance between them, respectively. Sadly, this storyline ended with all three of them dying. The Daughter’s death was especially significant because she sacrificed her remaining energy to help Anakin bring Ahsoka back to life, creating a lasting connection between them. Her spirit, Morai, has remained with Ahsoka ever since.
Interestingly, another flying creature in Ahsoka also seems connected to both the Clone Wars and the Mortis Gods, suggesting the Mortis Gods will play a major role in season 2. This creature, which appeared as a bat-like form the Son transformed into, implies the Mortis Gods aren’t just one part of the story – they could be the central focus of the entire season.
Okay, so those flying creatures from Peridea are really intriguing! But more importantly, I’m so excited to share that Ahsoka season 2 is now in post-production and should be released this year! (Apparently, the original announcement said pre-production – a good reminder to double-check before posting, haha!)

The Mortis Gods Will Likely Play A Huge Role In Season 2

The first season of Ahsoka strongly hinted at the return of the Mortis Gods in the show’s next season. Baylan Skoll was shown searching for information about them – or possibly seeking the gods themselves – and was even seen standing on a statue of the Father, clearly linking Peridea to these powerful beings. Adding to this, Ahsoka, who has the closest connection to the Mortis Gods of anyone currently in the Star Wars universe, is now also on Peridea.
These events have sparked many theories, including the idea that the Mortis Gods might return or were never truly gone. However, the most intriguing theory so far suggests a new group of Mortis Gods could emerge: Baylan Skoll as the son, Ahsoka Tano as the daughter, and Anakin Skywalker’s Force Ghost as the father.
This idea works well because Ahsoka already shares a deep bond with the daughter, and Anakin was specifically chosen by the Father to take his place – as the ‘Chosen One,’ he’s destined to restore balance to the Force, just like the Father. Although Baylan doesn’t have the same strong connection, his unique position as a Dark Jedi makes him an interesting candidate to become the new Son, and he’s clearly intrigued by these powerful beings.
Star Wars Could Make Its Coolest Anakin Skywalker Choice Yet

The theory that Baylan, Ahsoka, and Anakin could become the new versions of the Mortis Gods – the Son, Daughter, and Father – is exciting, but it’s unclear if Star Wars will actually go in that direction. If season 2 of Ahsoka does explore this, it would be a remarkably bold and interesting development for Anakin Skywalker’s story. It could grant him a new and powerful form as a Force Ghost, and finally fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen One in a truly complete way – something the series hasn’t quite done before.
This could also explain many unanswered questions, such as Ahsoka’s whereabouts during the sequel trilogy, why Anakin didn’t appear to Kylo Ren as a Force Ghost to guide him away from the dark side (or simply to connect with his son), and what ultimately happened with the powerful Mortis Gods. Currently, these are just fan theories, and a single glimpse of a winged creature isn’t much proof. Still, there’s growing evidence that at least some of these theories about the Mortis Gods might be correct.
