As a huge MCU fan, I’ve been along for the ride for 17 years now, and wow, it’s given me some serious emotional whiplash! Characters like Captain America and Scarlet Witch have had so many unforgettable moments, but there are four scenes in particular that still haunt me. They’re the ones I just can’t shake, and honestly, they’ve kept me up at night ever since I first saw them.
4. Wanda’s Grief

One of the biggest questions throughout WandaVision was exactly what triggered Scarlet Witch to create her reality in Westview. Once we learned the answer, it became much clearer how everything spiraled out of control. During the series, Wanda discovers where Vision’s body is being held after the events of Infinity War and immediately demands answers from S.W.O.R.D. director Hayward about his location.
He reveals to Wanda the disturbing truth about Vision – that S.W.O.R.D. is taking him apart. It’s initially confusing for both Wanda and the audience, but a close-up shot clarifies that the pieces scattered across tables *are* Vision. Devastated and furious, Wanda shatters the glass separating her from him, but when she tries to connect with him, she desperately cries out, unable to detect any sign of life.
Seeing her pain, combined with the horrifying sight of his severed body, is a deeply disturbing image that haunts viewers. This trauma is what causes Wanda to lose control and construct the reality of Westview, ultimately leading to the events that result in her apparent death.
3. Fall of a King

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever faced the incredibly challenging task of addressing the death of Chadwick Boseman, the film’s star. It successfully crafted a story about grief, loss, and ultimately, hope, from this tragic event. While the film includes many touching tributes to Boseman and his iconic character, the most emotionally powerful moment happens right at the start.
The movie begins with the royal family in turmoil. Shuri is desperately working to recreate a life-saving herb for her brother, who is gravely ill. As his condition worsens and his heart rate weakens, she finally succeeds in making the herb, only to be heartbroken when her mother, Ramonda, tells her he’s already gone.
The sadness in Shuri’s expression is deeply affecting, and it’s especially painful that she didn’t even have the chance to attempt a cure, even if it likely wouldn’t have worked. Combined with the solemn Wakandan funeral that followed, this is a moment that will stay with Marvel fans forever.
2. Made From Scratch

As a huge MCU fan, I have to say one of the most surprisingly emotional moments for me came from the *Agatha All Along* series on Disney+. In the eighth episode, they finally revealed who Nicholas Scratch was – Agatha’s son! The whole episode dives into their history, and honestly, it’s become one of the most powerful and genuinely sad episodes of anything Marvel’s done for TV so far.
Agatha begs Death, known as Rio, to spare her newborn son, but Death can only offer him additional time. The episode follows the boy’s life as Agatha raises him, constantly aware that Death will eventually return. Finally, after singing him to sleep one evening, Death arrives to fulfill his promise.
He said goodbye to Agatha with a final kiss as they walked into the night, but the real impact came the next morning. Agatha woke to find Nicholas had died, and she repeatedly cried out, “I want more time, I want more time, no, no.” This scene is incredibly moving and will likely stay with viewers for a long time.
1. I…Am…Iron Man

I tried to approach the movie with an open mind, remembering all the great scenes leading up to Tony Stark’s death in *Avengers: Endgame*. But after rewatching it, everything else faded into the background. Tony Stark is such a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his death scene is powerful not just because of Robert Downey Jr.’s performance, but also because of the emotional reactions of the other characters around him.
Tony manages to take the Infinity Stones from Thanos and uses them to snap his fingers. The surge of energy leaves him struggling to breathe and he collapses. He falls near a tree, and the first person to reach him is Rhodey. Tony briefly recognizes his friend before Peter arrives, taking Tony’s hand and tearfully celebrating their victory. However, Tony is already weakening and slipping away.
Honestly, the scene with Tony passing away still gets to me. Seeing Pepper kneel by his side, and the way he *recognized* her, trying to speak… it was heartbreaking. That little smile, then her telling him it’s okay to rest? Brutal. And then, just like that, he was gone. The Arc Reactor fading, his arm falling… it was such a powerful moment, truly the end of an era for the MCU. I don’t think anything will ever hit quite as hard, to be honest.
