With the end of the fight against Vecna and the Mind Flayer in Stranger Things, fans are feeling a mix of satisfaction and wanting more. Season 5 raised the stakes as the main group battled for survival and the fate of their town. The epic 2.5-hour finale wrapped up many storylines, but with so many characters, some questions were left unanswered. Several beloved supporting characters who previously helped fight the supernatural were missing from the final episodes, possibly due to the military quarantine or simply because of the large cast size. Their absence has been noticed by viewers.
Now that the show has continued through spin-offs and people are revisiting old episodes, we’re left wondering about the fate of the characters who weren’t part of those continuations.
4) Terry Ives

Eleven’s mother has been a mysterious figure in Stranger Things since the beginning, and we last saw her when the show explored Eleven’s difficult childhood in season two. Although their psychic link was a powerful part of their relationship, Terry Ives didn’t appear much as the series built to its ending. Many viewers thought she’d be important in the final battle, but she remained absent throughout the entire last season.
As a huge fan of the show, I honestly felt a little let down that Eleven didn’t get one last scene with her mother. Considering everything Terry went through – being stuck in that state because of the same experiments that created Eleven and drove the whole series – seeing them connect one final time would have been so powerful and really tied everything together. It’s a bit heartbreaking to think about Terry’s fate, and I keep wondering if Eleven ever went back to visit her after everything was said and done. It just feels like a loose end that could have provided some much-needed closure.
3) Argyle

Everyone loved Argyle, the funny, laid-back pizza delivery guy from California, when he appeared in season four. He was a big help and provided a lot of laughs during Mike, Jonathan, and Will’s road trip to find Eleven. However, he disappeared once the Byers family went back to Indiana. Fans who enjoyed his fun interactions with Jonathan and the others definitely missed him during the final battle.
I was really hoping to see Argyle and the Surfer Boy Pizza van show up for the final fight, but it just didn’t happen. They didn’t even bother to explain where he was! I get that he might have stayed in California or gone to Utah with Suzie’s sister, Eden, but it felt like a huge missed opportunity. He was so important in helping the group survive last season, and to just leave him out with no explanation… it just didn’t feel right.
2) Suzie

Suzie immediately impressed viewers when she first appeared. As Dustin’s girlfriend from summer camp and a remarkably intelligent coder and mathematician, she proved to be a huge help to the group, even saving the world on multiple occasions. She’s best remembered for her memorable duet with Dustin and her crucial assistance in helping Hopper and Joyce crack a vital code to stop the Upside Down’s drill. However, in the final season, she was noticeably absent. Despite Dustin facing significant emotional challenges, Suzie didn’t appear to offer her usual support or technical expertise.
The ending hinted that the couple may have separated during the quarantine, though it wasn’t directly shown. This ambiguity is disappointing for fans who really loved their unusual relationship. Beyond being a girlfriend, Suzie was incredibly intelligent and could have been a huge help with the technical challenges and science involved in the final fight, so many viewers missed her contributions.
1) Dr. Owens

Dr. Sam Owens was last seen in a dangerous situation: chained up in a hidden underground base as a rogue military group took control. Because he was one of the few officials who truly cared about Eleven and the town of Hawkins, viewers were left wondering what would happen to him as the season ended. Sadly, the show didn’t reveal his fate, making his survival one of the biggest unanswered questions.
It’s still a mystery whether Dr. Brenner was saved after the bunker collapsed, either by those who held him captive or by people trying to help him. His understanding of the Upside Down and his past with Eleven would have been incredibly helpful, especially to Dustin while he was trying to decipher Brenner’s journal. The show’s decision not to address his fate has led to countless fan theories, and many viewers hope a future show or spin-off will finally reveal what happened to him.
