This canine companion played an instrumental role in helping the timid little Willie break out of his shell. If the movie had ended there, it would have been a touching and serene narrative. However, unfortunately, the story continued, culminating in the heart-wrenching demise of Skip. This unfortunate event took place in a manner that was both shockingly cruel and unforgettable.

As a film enthusiast, I must admit that while the captivating storyline of The Lion King is a masterpiece, it’s crucial to acknowledge some heavy themes that might not be suitable for younger viewers. The portrayal of the hyenas and their involvement in Scar’s demise can be quite intense, as can Simba’s lingering feelings of guilt and fear. Moreover, Scar’s tyrannical rule over the Pride Lands is a stark reminder of power misused, adding to the emotional weight of the film. It’s a powerful narrative that requires a mature perspective to fully appreciate, but definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Without a doubt, Babe carries a melancholic undertone, yet it’s filled with moments that remain etched in our memory. The innocence of little Babe didn’t grasp the gravity of his mother being sent away to a place like a slaughterhouse. Ferdinand the Duck is petrified at the thought of ending up as someone’s dinner, Fly the Sheepdog grieves deeply when her puppies are sold off, and Maa the Sheep pays the ultimate price with her life. Is there more to mention? However grim these situations may be, Babe unexpectedly evolved into a trilogy.

1) The Iron Giant

The Iron Giant is a science fiction movie that sparked our creativity by introducing an entirely fresh universe, but ultimately touched our emotions deeply at its conclusion. During the tense period of the Cold War, the narrative revolves around Hogarth, a young lad who finds himself in an extraordinary situation to forge an unparalleled bond with a lifetime companion. Coincidentally, he encounters the Iron Giant, and his instinct was to preserve their newfound friendship from being discovered.

Although there’s plenty to appreciate in this movie, its conclusion remains deeply affecting. In the final scenes, the Iron Giant voluntarily shields his adopted town from destruction by jumping in front of an incoming missile, fully aware of the cost. It’s a moving and heartwrenching moment, one that leaves a lasting impression, especially when experienced at a young age as the idea was still unfamiliar. On the positive side, there is a glimmer of hope suggested at the end, so we can’t help but feel grateful for what the film offers overall.
