Fans of Star Trek have something to look forward to! According to TrekMovie, a documentary series offering a detailed look at the making of the iconic sci-fi show is likely returning for a second season. Many viewers felt the first season didn’t cover everything, and now it seems more of the story will be told. The original 11-episode series, which premiered on The History Channel four years ago, offered an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look, and reports suggest new episodes are already being filmed.
Brian Volk-Weiss, a huge Star Trek fan, is the driving force behind The Center Seat, created with The Nacelle Company – the team behind popular shows like The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made Us. The series, which first appeared in 2021, featured episodes dedicated to the original Star Trek shows: The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. It also included episodes about guest stars and the show’s iconic starships. However, the series didn’t cover the Next Generation movies, the films featuring the Kelvin timeline cast, or the newer Star Trek television series.
It’s Looking Really Good For A Second Season
Recent Instagram posts by Volk-Weiss suggest that Nacelle Company is working on documentaries about all the Star Trek films – including those featuring the Next Generation crew and the Kelvin timeline movies. He shared a photo with Alan Ruck and another with Walter Koenig, hinting at interviews for the project. The inclusion of Nacelle Company in the Koenig photo has fueled speculation that production is officially happening.
Plus, they shared a picture of Alice Krieg, who famously played the Borg Queen! The playful caption hinted that something big is happening at Nacelle. It read, “We were thrilled to interview @realalicekrige for a new show we’re working on—though it’s not much of a secret! She shared amazing stories, and even said, ‘Finding your weakness is only a matter of time!’” While it’s not official confirmation, these posts strongly suggest a second season of The Center Seat is on the way, and we’re really excited about it!
