5 Best Marvel Comics of March 2026, Ranked

Collecting superhero comics is a unique hobby. There’s always a constant flow of new books expanding on existing storylines, reimagining familiar characters, or building entirely new shared universes. The Marvel Universe, in particular, is vast, featuring numerous heroes battling a wide range of threats, from petty criminals to large-scale evils. While there are countless great comics to explore, keeping up with everything can be overwhelming. As of March 2026, Marvel publishes twenty-four ongoing series and twenty-four limited series each month – that’s forty-eight comics total! For many fans, the cost and time commitment make reading them all simply unrealistic.

As a comics fan, I know it’s tough deciding what to spend your money on each month – there are just so many options! That’s why I’m here today. I’ve sifted through Marvel’s entire lineup and picked out the five books I think truly deserve your attention this month. It wasn’t easy – honestly, I could recommend a ton more – but I had to narrow it down. Before we get to my top five, let me quickly shout out three great reads that almost made the cut: Nova: Centurion #5, Knull #3, and Infernal Hulk #5. Now, let’s dive into my top picks!

5) Amazing Spider-Man (2025) #24

The latest Spider-Man adventure, “Death Spiral,” throws Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage into an explosive crossover. The story begins with Eddie Brock discovering his father’s murder at the hands of a new villain named Torment. As Eddie grapples with his complex feelings for his father, he’s consumed by anger and seeks revenge. Spider-Man and Venom try to stop him, all while struggling to work together, especially after Spider-Man learns Mary Jane is now connected to the Venom symbiote. The issue is filled with escalating tension, and Eddie’s pain and fury are powerfully portrayed, making him the emotional center of the story. The artwork brilliantly captures his spiraling descent into madness.

This issue feels like a key part of a much bigger, exciting story, and it’s a really strong one. The event as a whole has been surprisingly enjoyable. The interactions between the three main characters are consistently dramatic and fun to watch. The villain, Torment, is genuinely unsettling, and presents a fresh challenge for the heroes. While the overall event is worth checking out, this particular issue was especially gripping – it’s expertly building suspense, and I’m completely hooked.

4) Cyclops (2026) #2

In the previous issue, the Reavers – a group of cyborgs who hate mutants – shot down Cyclops’s jet and captured several mutants, forcing them to work as miners. Cyclops survived the crash but woke up with a concussion and without his visor, leaving him blind. His only ally was Mei, a mutant with super strength that only activated when she wasn’t scared. With the Reavers pursuing them and Cyclops already injured, Mei wasn’t reliable in a fight. Despite all this, Cyclops proved his leadership skills by defeating one of the Reavers even though he couldn’t see.

This comic excels at building suspense, and this issue delivers that in a big way. The villains, the Reavers, have Cyclops and Mei completely overpowered, and they show no mercy. One villain, Tearjerker, is particularly menacing. However, Cyclops truly shines here. This series consistently proves why Cyclops is a mutant you should always watch closely – he’s never one to be underestimated. It’s a fantastic read for existing Cyclops fans and a great starting point for anyone curious about the character.

3) The Mortal Thor #8

This story shifts focus from Sigurd Jarlson to Magni, the son of Thor, and his magical hare companion, Blackjack. They’re sent to Jotunheim to search for a new leader, a quest that leads them into the fiery realm of Muspelheim for a thrilling battle against fire creatures. Meanwhile, the Enchantress is plotting to put her son on the throne of Asgard, and she makes a dangerous deal to eliminate anyone who stands in her way. It’s a classic Asgardian adventure filled with excitement, but it ends with a heartbreaking event that will have lasting consequences.

If you enjoy traditional Thor stories, this issue of Mortal Thor is a must-read. It’s a self-contained adventure that expands on the mythology of the gods and their worlds. The Enchantress’s quest for ultimate power is escalating, and the unfolding events hint at a dramatic, tragic outcome. It’s a fantastic issue for any Thor fan and sets the stage for exciting stories to come.

2) Fantastic Four (2025) #9

As a big Fantastic Four fan, I always loved seeing Sue Storm step up, and this story really showcased her power. It started with everyone thinking she was the team’s weakest link, but this arc completely flipped that idea on its head. They introduced an alternate Sue, calling herself the Invincible Woman, and she was terrifying – literally taking on Galactus! When the FF tried to intervene, she absolutely destroyed them. Our Sue, and the whole team, were completely outmatched. The entire issue was just non-stop action, genuinely scary moments, and a fantastic build-up to an incredible final battle. It was a real turning point showing just how powerful she could be.

If you enjoy stories that explore the limits of superpowers using realistic physics, you’ll love this issue. The villain, a dark version of Sue Storm, is genuinely frightening and presents a serious danger to the Fantastic Four. She forces Sue to confront her in a compelling way that I hope the writers revisit. Beyond the villain, this issue gives each member of the Fantastic Four a moment to shine, showcasing their teamwork even when facing overwhelming odds, making their small wins feel truly earned. It’s a great lead-in to what promises to be an incredible final issue, and I’m excited to see how it all wraps up.

1) Ultimates (2024) #22

As the current iteration of the Ultimate Universe ends, the most compelling story isn’t the large-scale battle for existence, but a deeply personal one. The revelation in Ultimates #10 – that Bucky Barnes was the new Red Skull – has weighed heavily on Captain America. This issue finally shows their devastating final fight, exploring their shared past – from childhood friends to enemies – and how Steve’s time frozen in ice changed everything. It’s a battle between a cynical man and a heroic icon, but at its core, it’s a tragic story of two brothers tragically on opposing sides. It’s both heartbreaking and beautifully written.

Since the universe reboot, Ultimates has consistently delivered powerful, character-driven stories, and this issue is its finest achievement yet. It focuses on Captain America as he confronts the heartbreaking transformation of his friend, and while it’s a tragic tale, it also offers moments of hope. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are particularly strong in their roles – I only wish there was more of them! This is a must-read comic for this month, without question.
