5 Characters DC Should Have Added to Titans

During the “Beast World” event, when the Titans series commenced, numerous characters stepped forward to aid the Titans. Marking their debut as the main team within the DC Universe, sadly, they retreated back into obscurity once the Justice League reappeared. However, during their brief moment in the limelight, things flourished for the Titans. What stood out most was that many prominent figures involved in this event weren’t officially part of the team but seemed destined to join. There were several characters who seemed adrift and joining the Titans would have been an ideal destination for them.

Here are five characters that should have joined the Titans roster after “Beast World”.

1) Jon Kent

Among all characters, it’s quite evident that Jon Kent would have been an ideal addition to the Titans. Given his strong bond with Nightwing and the entire Bat-family, it seems only fitting for him to find a place among them. Although he is relatively younger than the rest of the team, if the Titans could accommodate a Flash, they could easily have included a Superman too.

I’ve always admired Tom Taylor’s work, and I could easily envision myself being part of his team on “Beast World.” It seemed like an extension of the Titans, where even those not initially chosen were welcomed to join in the grand event. Jon felt perfectly suited for the team, making him a natural fit.

2) Batgirl (Barbara Gordon)

As a dedicated movie critic, I must confess that Batgirl/Oracle always seems like an honorary member of the Titans whenever their team graces the pages. With her exceptional heroine status at DC Comics, she’s remarkably well-connected across various groups. Though she may not have been officially inducted as a Titan in the traditional sense, her presence within the pages of Tom Taylor’s Nightwing series leaves little doubt. Her seamless integration with the team, particularly during their high-profile moments, makes me believe she belongs there. To be candid, every team could benefit from Barbara Gordon’s Oracle expertise when needed.

3) Swamp Thing

In “Beast World,” hints about Swamp Thing’s return were abundant, with Levi Kamei stepping into the role as the latest incarnation of the hero and guardian of the Green. As one of Earth’s initial defenders, he teamed up with the Titans in their early fight against Starro. However, it seemed that Swamp Thing was in need of the Titans more than they required him. While his mentor Alec Holland is still around but less active, Levi found himself without a strong support system. Joining the Titans could have provided Levi with a much-needed support network, benefiting both the Titans and Levi personally.

4) Dreamer

In the grand scheme of “Beast World,” Dreamer seemed perfectly suited for the role of a Titan. Having gained popularity among DC fans over the past decade, Dreamer is a character who has only begun to tap into her true potential. Placing her on a team like the Titans would be an exciting prospect. Recently, Dreamer found herself manipulated by Waller in “Absolute Power,” but she’s been demonstrating a more cooperative attitude lately. Her impressive performance in and as the leader of the Secret Six indicates her ability to work well within a team. It might have been an ideal opportunity to fully showcase her abilities alongside characters that are roughly her age on the Titans. Perhaps there’s a chance for this in the future.

5) Shazam

Instead of Superman serving as a prototype for the Titans, Billy Batson could have been that role. His extraordinary abilities and adult form despite being a youngster make him a potential fit for their group dynamic. Although it’s unclear if he is currently part of the Justice Society or operating independently, his inclusion on the Titans would be captivating. It may seem like a step down from the other teams he has been affiliated with, but the intrigue of seeing this distinctive character on a team unlike any other would be worthwhile.
