DC and Marvel have been consistently collaborating recently, which is a big change! For almost twenty years, there hadn’t been any team-ups between their characters. But that changed with the release of Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman. They didn’t stop there, though. DC followed up with their own crossover, and then they announced another one featuring Superman and Spider-Man, marking fifty years since their first collaboration. The second part, Marvel/DC: Spider-Man/Superman, comes out in April, and it makes you wonder if these crossovers will continue even after this one.
Crossovers between DC and Marvel characters are incredibly enjoyable, and I hope they continue! To keep things fresh, though, we need some fantastic team-ups to lead the way. Here are five pairings that could carry an entire crossover event, with plenty of opportunities for even more characters to join in. Let’s dive into some potential combinations!
5) Aquaman/Black Panther

I always thought it was a bit odd seeing Aquaman teamed up with anyone but Namor, considering they’re both underwater kings. But honestly, I think Aquaman and Black Panther actually have a lot more in common, and could make for some really compelling stories together. They’re both rulers trying to do what’s best for their people while also being dedicated heroes. Unlike Namor, they’ve consistently been forces for good, even while grappling with the responsibilities of the throne. Plus, their kingdoms – Atlantis and Wakanda – have always been a bit separate from the rest of the world, and now, with Aquaman becoming an interstellar emperor, they’re both reaching for the stars! I think they could have a fascinating conversation about what it truly means to be a king and a hero – they’re two of the most thoughtful leaders I can think of in either universe.
4) Teen Titans/Champions

These teams are essentially the main teen superhero groups for Marvel and DC, and it’s easy to understand why – they’re both filled with the most talented young heroes of their universes, representing a hopeful future. Putting them together in a story would be a fantastic way to highlight both the similarities and differences in how Marvel and DC create these young characters. Just imagine a conversation between Ms. Marvel and one of the Robins – that alone would be worth seeing! The Champions consistently try to change things up and challenge tradition, while the Teen Titans constantly strive to earn their place among adult heroes. Both teams are exceptional, and their members would create a really dynamic and interesting interaction.
3) Martian Manhunter/Silver Surfer

Martian Manhunter and Silver Surfer are both incredibly powerful, yet deeply isolated heroes. Despite their abilities, they always feel like outsiders, even as they dedicate themselves to protecting others. While they could certainly team up to defeat major villains like Despero and Thanos, the most compelling part of a team-up would be their emotional connection. Both are exceptionally wise, able to see the beauty in the universe despite witnessing immense suffering, and their shared feelings of loneliness and grief would likely lead to a truly profound and memorable conversation.
2) Nightwing/Cyclops

This situation opens the door for exciting team-ups in side stories, potentially bringing together characters from the Bat-Family, the Titans, and the X-Men. However, I think the most compelling pairing would be Nightwing and Cyclops. Both are foundational heroes who have been fighting crime since childhood, and they’re exceptionally gifted leaders – capable of motivating large groups even in the most dangerous situations.
The relationship between these two characters is compelling because of their different backgrounds, goals, and how they see the people who guided them. Scott is very serious and dedicated, but Nightwing has become more playful and easygoing as he’s matured. Nightwing could even encourage Scott to lighten up and enjoy himself. Plus, pairing a skilled acrobat with someone who has incredible spatial awareness promises some really dynamic and exciting action.
1) Wonder Woman/Thor

It’s almost certain we’ll see Wonder Woman and Thor team up. They’ve already paired Wonder Woman with Captain America, and while that was great, a team-up between these two powerhouses feels essential. Both are incredibly important characters – Wonder Woman is a central figure in the DC universe, and Thor is one of Marvel’s biggest heroes. They also share interesting similarities: both are deeply connected to mythology – Greek and Norse respectively – and both are immortal beings who believe in the good of humanity.
Both Wonder Woman and Thor were trained as warriors, yet they ultimately strive for peace. Their differing perspectives on the future of humanity and the involvement of the gods would be fascinating to watch. Plus, imagining Wonder Woman wielding Thor’s hammer against villains is incredibly exciting! Together, they could battle powerful mythological creatures while also exploring what it means to live among humans. Wonder Woman’s commitment to truth could even challenge Thor, who used to be quite arrogant, in a meaningful way. They’d make a great team, fighting universal threats – what more could fans want?
