Next week on Emmerdale, the deaths of Celia Daniels and Ray Walters will deeply affect everyone in the village.
A resident suggests Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) was involved in a plan, leading to her arrest. Meanwhile, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) becomes the main suspect after Ray’s body is discovered in his van.
It’s been really tough watching Laurel and Paddy lately. They’re both clearly hurting after everything that’s happened, and you can really see them struggling to cope. I just hope they can find a way through it together.
Here’s a look at everything happening between Monday 12th and Friday 16th January.
5 Emmerdale spoilers for next week
1. The police arrest Moira Dingle for human trafficking

Police quickly arrived in the village and went to Butler’s Farm to question the workers, having just learned that Celia and Ray were running a human trafficking operation from a nearby location.
Moira heads to the hospital to pick up Cain, while Robert and Vic do everything they can to present her favorably in their interview. Meanwhile, Joe unknowingly makes things worse by suggesting Moira might not be entirely blameless.

When DS Walsh arrives home, she immediately questions the woman about her professional connection with Celia, and a search warrant is authorized. Moira continues to cooperate with the investigation, believing she has nothing to conceal—though the audience knows otherwise!
Celia made Bear bury Anya in the field, and she used a blanket belonging to Moira to wrap the body. Will investigators discover this as a key piece of evidence?
Later, Moira is carted away by the police, and Caleb helps Cain find the best lawyer possible.
2. Jai Sharma is chief suspect following the murder of Ray Walters

As part of their investigation into the drug dealing that Celia and Ray were connected to, police searched the warehouse. They believe Caleb Miligan International was likely involved in transporting the drugs.
Jai, Caleb, and Billy are shocked to discover Ray’s body in a van, and they find themselves under scrutiny as the police investigate who could have gotten inside.

Caleb believes a killer is among the staff at the depot, while Jai is certain Celia is the culprit.
The following day, DC Stewart wondered if Jai and Ray had any hidden connection. He paid close attention when Caleb mentioned his past marriage to Laurel.
3. Ray’s death looms over Laurel Thomas

Laurel and Arthur were shocked and devastated by the news of Ray’s death, and Laurel went to church to seek comfort. She angrily confronted Marlon for keeping Ray’s situation a secret from her, and her harsh words deeply upset him.
DS Walsh is curious about Ray and Jai’s dynamic, wondering if Jai felt envious of their closeness. Although she firmly believes Jai didn’t do anything wrong, the police still bring him in for questioning.

Rumors are spreading through the village, causing Laurel a lot of distress. Everyone is watching Jai, who becomes defensive and immediately blames April and Dylan before angrily leaving.
4. Paddy Dingle is traumatised by Bear Wolf’s disappearance

Paddy becomes very upset when Mandy calls him from Ireland, and Dylan doesn’t know how to help him feel better. They’re still looking for Bear, but haven’t found much to go on.
Okay, so things are getting really tense. I’m watching Lewis try to help Paddy, but it totally backfires and just makes things worse for him. And the really creepy part? They’re completely unaware that someone’s been digging around near Anya’s grave – like, a new grave right next to hers! It’s seriously unsettling and I have a bad feeling about what’s going on.
5. The villagers react to the news of Ray’s passing

Honestly, the whole village is completely stunned by what’s happened. You could feel the shockwaves when Billy delivered the awful news – Ray’s body was found down at the depot, and nobody could quite process it. It was a truly devastating moment for everyone involved.
Someone watches on, looking shifty…
Dylan is shocked and refuses to accept that Ray tricked them, so they angrily leave. At the same time, Kim is starting to distrust Joe, as he was involved in Moira’s arrest.
She ultimately decides she’d rather not find out and tells him to leave it alone. However, once she’s by herself, Joe secretly calls for information on what’s happening.
Who is he calling?
