The Avengers are Marvel’s flagship superhero team, and over the years, many heroes have been members. Throughout Marvel’s long comic book history, countless characters have joined the team in different storylines. While the Avengers are incredibly popular, many of its members aren’t well-known outside of comic books. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has brought many heroes to life, and most of them have either joined or worked alongside the Avengers. Despite the MCU’s promising future, the Avengers themselves might face limitations going forward.
The Avengers are a legendary superhero team in comics, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies have reflected that popularity. However, the MCU’s storylines have quietly made it seem less likely that certain comic book Avengers will appear in the films, and have even hinted that others might never join the team. While the MCU’s Multiverse Saga allows for almost anything to happen, it appears some heroes from the comics won’t be joining the Avengers in the movies.
5) Doctor Druid

Doctor Druid first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1961 as Doctor Droom, and was later reimagined as a character who even led the Avengers for a time. Although he debuted about two years before Doctor Strange, he’s remained largely overshadowed by Marvel’s more famous magical hero. Despite being a powerful magic user and a former Avengers leader, Doctor Druid is unlikely to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A key storyline involving his manipulation by Terminatrix – a version of Ravonna Renslayer who is now deceased in the MCU – complicates things. Plus, he isn’t a very popular character, and his powers and role are quite similar to Doctor Strange, making his introduction unnecessary.
4) Jack of Hearts

While many fantastic Avengers characters haven’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, Jack of Hearts is a prime example. Despite being a compelling character in the comics, it’s unlikely we’ll see him in an MCU film. Jack of Hearts constantly risks self-destruction, requiring constant containment, which would be a significant hurdle for the franchise. Adapting his complicated origin and the dangerous nature of his powers would make it difficult to integrate him into a large-scale MCU story.
3) Tigra

Tigra is a Marvel hero whose powers are based on tigers. While similar to characters like DC’s Cheetah and Catwoman, she hasn’t reached the same level of popularity. Despite this, she’s consistently been a part of Marvel’s superhero teams, including the Avengers, and has even appeared in animated Avengers series. Although there’s nothing stopping her from appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, her relatively simple backstory and concept make a live-action appearance seem unlikely.
2) Delroy Garrett

Delroy Garrett, who has gone by the names Triathlon and 3-D Man, debuted in Marvel Comics in 1998. He’s known for his incredible speed and strength, and a unique ability to see Skrulls as they truly are. While he was an Avenger in the comics, it’s unlikely he’ll appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His powers are quite similar to those of Quicksilver, who is already established, and the Skrulls currently in the MCU aren’t presented as a major danger. Ultimately, there doesn’t seem to be a compelling reason to introduce him into the MCU.
1) Moondragon

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe features a team of Guardians of the Galaxy, many fans feel certain characters are missing, with Moondragon often topping that list. In the comics, she’s a powerful hero – skilled in telepathy and telekinesis, and even able to turn into a dragon – who has even fought alongside the Avengers. Although she’s established as Drax the Destroyer’s daughter within the MCU, this connection may actually prevent her from appearing. The films have already shown that Drax’s daughter died at the hands of Ronan, suggesting Moondragon’s story won’t be told in the MCU.
