5 Great Lost Avengers Members That Deserve a Comeback

The Avengers are Marvel’s most famous superhero team. Many heroes have joined their ranks over time, helping to save the world from various dangers. Usually, being an Avenger leads to bigger opportunities for these characters in future stories. However, that isn’t always true. Because the team’s lineup constantly changes, some interesting heroes get overlooked. Even when they have strong story potential and were key players in exciting plots, they often seem to vanish completely after leaving the Avengers. These characters deserve better, and it’s time for them to return in a big way.

The Avengers have included a lot of compelling heroes, each with unique abilities, traits, looks, and backstories. However, sometimes even that isn’t enough, and these heroes end up forgotten for years. Hopefully, they’ll have a chance to shine again in the future.

5) Silverclaw

The Avengers have seen many heroes come and go, but shapeshifting is a rare ability among them. Lupe Santiago, also known as Silverclaw, was one of the few who could do it. Born in Central America as the daughter of a volcano goddess, she could transform into any animal native to the region, like jaguars and eagles. After arriving in America, she quickly joined the team, with the Avengers’ butler, Jarvis, as an early supporter. Silverclaw was a compelling character with a unique look, a courageous but naive personality, and a connection to Central American mythology. Sadly, after returning to her home country and becoming a backup Avenger, Marvel largely forgot about her.

4) Smasher

The Shi’ar Imperial Guard are the powerful protectors of the Shi’ar empire, and Izzy Kane, known as Smasher, was the first human to become one of them. As the granddaughter of the classic hero Captain Terror, Izzy found special goggles from the original alien Smasher after his death. These goggles gave her incredible superpowers, including super strength, resilience, the ability to fly, and x-ray vision. She later became a vital member of the Avengers, fighting alongside them against the Builders and even developing a relationship with teammate Cannonball. However, despite being honored by the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, Marvel sidelined her. Izzy is a capable hero who deserves a chance to return to Earth and protect it.

3) Justice

I’ve always been fascinated by Justice, or Vance Astrovik! He’s one of the few mutants who never became an X-Man, which always struck me as unique. He actually started with the New Warriors, then even became an Avenger alongside his girlfriend, Firestar! His mutant ability lets him move things with his mind – he can fly super fast and lift incredible weights. He always seemed like a really fun, upbeat character, and always brightened up any comic he was in. It’s a shame he hasn’t been around much lately, especially after teaching at Avengers Academy. Honestly, with powers and a personality like his, I think Justice deserves another shot with the Avengers – he’d be a fantastic addition!

2) Lionheart

Kelsey Leigh, known as Lionheart, was a mother who died a hero, saving Captain America. After her death, she was offered a choice in the afterlife: an amulet or a sword. She chose the sword, hoping to continue protecting her children, but faced consequences for choosing a violent path. When she came back to life, Kelsey had to keep her identity secret to keep her children safe. She eventually became a member of the Avengers as Captain Britain, later reclaiming the name Lionheart. Kelsey had incredible powers, including super strength, the ability to fly, force fields, and energy blasts. Sadly, after overcoming the curse that bound her and finding her way back to her children, she’s been largely forgotten. Her complex past, strong family ties, and willingness to sacrifice herself make her a compelling character with a lot of untapped story potential.

1) Hyperion (Earth-13034)

Marvel Comics features many versions of Hyperion, a character similar to Superman, throughout its different universes. However, the most compelling version comes from Earth-13034. This Hyperion came to Earth-616 after his home universe was destroyed and quickly became an Avenger. He formed a strong friendship with Thor, thanks to his incredible powers and fighting skills. Unfortunately, after the events of Secret Empire, this version of Hyperion mysteriously disappeared. To make things worse, he was replaced by a less developed Hyperion variant who joined the Avengers. Fans are hoping the original, more complex Hyperion from Earth-13034 will return soon to fight alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
