Just as with any streaming platform, movies available on Netflix don’t remain there indefinitely. Even original content from streamers isn’t always permanent, and their exclusive titles won’t stay that way forever. As we approach June 2025, it’s important to note that while new content will be added to Netflix, some popular movies will also be leaving. Here are a few films that Netflix subscribers might want to catch before they depart. If you’ve already seen these movies, consider revisiting them during your next movie night.
We’ve carefully selected some great movies across various genres. There’s an engaging romantic comedy, a sports romance, a gripping medical drama, a modern sci-fi masterpiece, and a classic ’90s horror – all of which are must-sees before the upcoming sequel hits cinemas. Which one will you choose for your movie night?
1) Crazy, Stupid, Love.
One intriguing rephrasing for the given text could be: “One of the top romantic comedies from the 21st century, ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’, follows the life of Cal Weaver (Steve Carell), a middle-aged man who has recently discovered his wife’s infidelity with her boss. Stricken by this revelation and left heartbroken, Cal is now living in a small apartment following their separation.
Through the influence of the charismatic younger man, Jacob Palmer (portrayed by Ryan Gosling), Cal re-enters the dating world. However, what Cal is unaware of is that Palmer has recently started seeing Cal’s own daughter.
2) Awakenings
The writer of Schindler’s List, Steven Zaillian, is known for creating touching stories, and Awakenings, starring Robert De Niro and Robin Williams, is no exception. This movie tells the story of Dr. Malcolm Sayer, portrayed by Williams, a neurologist who experiments with a new drug on catatonic patients.
In this role, De Niro portrays Leonard Lowe, a patient much like the others. After being revived to full awareness, Lowe finds himself having to adjust to a world that appears to have moved on without him.
3) I Know What You Did Last Summer
With the reboot of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” just about here, now is the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Ray Bronson from the 1997 version. If you’re a fan of “Scream”, this movie is definitely worth watching. Notably, it was written by Kevin Williamson, who also penned “Scream”, “Scream 2”, “Scream 4”, and will be directing the upcoming “Scream 7”.
Instead of being as frightening as the Ghostface movie series, it shares a similar quality in its well-chosen cast members. Ryan Phillippe played several unforgettable antagonists in the ’90s, and his character Barry Cox might just be the best of them all. Moreover, Ben Willis, also known as the Fisherman, is an impressively menacing adversary, and it’ll be intriguing to see how the 2025 film develops this character further. However, do your best to steer clear of “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” – it’s a bumpy ride comparable to a turbulent Caribbean storm night.
4) Draft Day
The last movie directed by Ivan Reitman, known for his work on “Ghostbusters” and “Stripes,” is titled “Draft Day.” This football film can captivate both sports enthusiasts and those not particularly interested in sports. In essence, it shares some similarities with “Moneyball,” but has a romantic-comedy (rom-com) flavor to it.
In this rephrased version: Kevin Costner portrays Sonny Weaver Jr., general manager of the Cleveland Browns, who is eager to recruit a highly-touted quarterback for their team. However, upon discovering that the quarterback’s private life and team commitment might not live up to the media hype, he opts for an alternate choice. This decision faces resistance from the coach and owner of the Browns, but Sonny trusts his instincts.
5) Dune: Part Two
Among the greatest science fiction movie sequels ever created, “Dune: Part Two” (directed by future 007 director Denis Villeneuve) is visually breathtaking and carries deep emotional significance, making it a contemporary masterpiece. While watching it on a small screen may not match the theater experience, you can still immerse yourself in the tale of Paul Atreides by streaming it on Netflix.
In the second installment, we find enhancements from its predecessor, along with some exceptionally fitting actors joining the cast, like Florence Pugh and Austin Butler. However, it seems Christopher Walken’s portrayal of Emperor Shaddam IV could have been utilized more extensively. Yet, this is a minor flaw in an otherwise grand cinematic experience.
