I’m so excited that Street Fighter is coming back to the movies! The cast they’ve put together is incredible, pulling a lot of the most famous fighters from Street Fighter II – Ryu, Chun-Li, M. Bison, Guile, and so many more. It’s already amazing they’ve got 17 characters from the games, but honestly, there are still so many other awesome fighters that deserve a chance on the big screen. We’re highlighting five of them who really need to be included in a future movie, and we’re starting with a personal favorite of mine.
5. Sakura

Sakura first appeared in the game Street Fighter Alpha 2 in 1996 and quickly became a popular character. Inspired by Ryu, she began training in martial arts and later assisted Ryu and Ken in their fight against M. Bison as the story unfolded.
Sakura is a vibrant and upbeat character, but don’t underestimate her – she’s a formidable fighter. Her fighting style is similar to Ryu’s, but she adds her own unique twists, creating a style called Shotokan. This includes a powerful attack, the Shouoken, which is her version of the Shoryuken and can cover a wide range of the screen. She’d be a fantastic addition to any film, and hopefully, she’ll get that opportunity in the future.
4. Birdie

Now, let’s look at Street Fighter Alpha from 1995 and the unique character Birdie. He’s instantly recognizable with his height, rock-and-roll style—including a big chain—and towering blonde mohawk. Though his appearance has evolved over the years, those core elements are still part of his design.
I’ve always been fascinated by this character! His journey is just so compelling – starting as a victim of M. Bison’s Shadaloo, enduring all those horrible experiments, and then turning the tables to fight alongside the heroes. It was great seeing him attack the Shadaloo base, and he’s provided some genuinely funny moments throughout the series. I love that his fighting style is a raw blend of brawling and wrestling, and it’s exciting to see him interact with characters he’s tangled with before in the new movie. Honestly, if they make a sequel, I really hope they bring him back – he’d be an amazing addition!
3. Crimson Viper

Next up is Street Fighter IV from 2009, which really revitalized the series. The game introduced a new character, Crimson Viper, a stylish fighter who secretly works for the CIA. Her mission is to dismantle the criminal organizations S.I.N. and Shadaloo, putting her on a collision course with characters like Chun-Li and Cammy, and making her an opponent of M. Bison. This gives her a lot of interesting ties to the game’s story and other fighters.
As a movie fan, I always thought Crimson Viper was seriously underrated. She’s not just a skilled martial artist, but her CIA training and that incredible Battle Suit of hers make her a total powerhouse. I mean, electric stuns, ground-based shockwaves, boot jets – she’s got it all! And those laser glasses? Come on, that’s basically a Batman-level gadget! Seeing her on the big screen would be amazing, honestly. She’d bring a totally unique vibe to the action genre.
2. Rose

The new Street Fighter movie has plenty of strong fighters, but it’s missing some mystical elements. That’s why adding Rose, the fortune teller, would be a smart move. She first appeared in Street Fighter Alpha in 1995, and like Birdie, she has a distinctive appearance in the games that would look great on film.
Rose possesses a unique ability called Soul Power, which she focuses through her golden scarf. This scarf isn’t just an accessory – she can use it to fight in a variety of ways. Soul Power is essentially the opposite of M. Bison’s Psycho Power, allowing Rose to launch powerful attacks from a distance and even deflect or neutralize enemy attacks. Beyond her abilities, Rose has personal connections to key characters like Ryu and a strong dislike for M. Bison, making her a compelling candidate for inclusion in a future game.
1. Juri

Taking the top spot is Super Street Fighter IV from 2010, which first introduced the dangerous character Juri. Juri is a skilled and artistic fighter who lives for the excitement of battle. She’s not only focused on winning, but she’s also known for being ruthless and having a fierce temper, making her a great rival to the series’ heroes. However, beneath her tough exterior, there’s more to her story.
Juri often clashes with fighters like Chun-Li, Cammy, and C. Viper, but her biggest enemy is M. Bison. He murdered her parents and caused her to lose an eye, so she’s driven by a desire for revenge. In battle, Juri is relentlessly aggressive, using powerful moves like her signature pinwheel kick and the Fuharenjin. It would be incredible to see her finally get her revenge on Bison in a movie!
Street Fighter hits theaters on October 16, 2026.
