The DC Universe is famous for its incredible heroes and villains, but we often overlook the strong and loving relationships within it. We frequently discuss epic battles and powerful enemies, but not often enough the couples who find strength and support in each other, even amidst all the chaos and cosmic events of the DCU.
Every couple faces challenges, and it’s no different for those living in the constantly changing DC Universe. Despite bizarre events and impossible obstacles, many DC couples have managed to build lasting relationships. Apollo and Midnighter, Flash and Linda Park, are just two examples of couples who’ve overcome incredible hurdles to stay together. Life isn’t easy for superheroes, but these couples prove that love can conquer all. Here are 5 fantastic DC Comics couples and what makes their connections so strong.
5. Apollo and Midnighter

Apollo and Midnighter started as a playful take on Superman and Batman, but they quickly became much more than that. Over the years, they’ve fought side-by-side on teams like Stormwatch and various versions of the Authority, developing a deep loyalty to each other that fans adored. Notably, they were also one of the first prominent same-sex couples in comics, and even got married. Though both characters have evolved, their strong love for each other has always remained constant.
4. Flash and Linda Park-West

For Wally West, becoming the Flash was a life-changing event, but meeting Linda Park – who would become his wife and the mother of his children – was just as important. They shared a remarkably stable and loving marriage until the timeline was altered by the events of Flashpoint. Even after those changes, Wally never stopped loving Linda and tirelessly worked to rebuild their relationship and reunite their family. It’s a true testament to their enduring connection.
3. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy

Harley Quinn escaped a harmful and abusive relationship and found happiness with Poison Ivy. Though it took time for DC Comics to officially recognize them as a couple, they’ve been together for years and are both better for it. Ivy provides Harley with the stability and love she needs, and Harley brings excitement and joy to Ivy’s life. Whether you’re a fan of the pairing or not, it’s clear they share a strong connection.
2. Mister Miracle and Big Barda

I’ve always been drawn to couples who’ve overcome difficult pasts, and Big Barda and Mister Miracle have one of the most incredible stories. They both grew up on the harsh planet Apokolips, where they were trained as warriors for the evil Darkseid. But instead of remaining trapped in that brutal life, they escaped to Earth and found love and happiness together. They’ve been through everything, and recently became parents to a daughter. It seems unbelievable, but overcoming impossible odds is just normal life for these two – a powerfully built warrior and a remarkably resourceful escape artist.
1. Superman and Lois Lane

Okay, I’m a huge Superman fan, so I might be a little biased, but seriously, is there a more perfect couple than Superman and Lois Lane? They’ve been connected for decades and had instant chemistry. It took Superman a while to reveal he was Lois’ coworker, but since then, they’ve become one of the most iconic couples in comic books. They’ve faced every kind of challenge – deaths, storylines getting rewritten – you name it. But through everything, Superman and Lois always end up together, and nothing can break them apart.
