5 Iconic Star Wars Ships That Were Even Better Than the Millennium Falcon

Great sci-fi series live or die by their iconic spaceships. Think about Star Trek – without the Enterprise, the adventures exploring the unknown wouldn’t be the same. Even Dune, despite lacking traditional space battles, features the Ornithopter, a key vehicle for navigating the desert planet Arrakis. But nothing quite compares to the Star Wars’ most famous ship. The Millennium Falcon, first appearing in A New Hope, is a hero in its own right. It played a critical role in destroying both Death Stars and repeatedly rescued the Resistance in the later films.

The Millennium Falcon has an incredible reputation, making it tough for other Star Wars ships to stand out. However, many ships still try to compete, and some are genuinely impressive. Here are five iconic Star Wars ships that could even be considered better than the Millennium Falcon.

5) X-Wing

At the beginning of the original Star Wars trilogy, the Rebel Alliance is significantly outmatched by the powerful Empire. They rely on resourceful tactics and whatever ships they can get, including the nimble X-Wing. Even a single X-Wing, piloted by Luke Skywalker, played a crucial role in destroying the Death Star in A New Hope. Recognizing its potential, the Resistance further upgraded the X-Wing for the battles against the First Order in the sequel films. Though smaller than the Millennium Falcon, the X-Wing is a formidable fighter that can certainly compete.

4) TIE Fighter

The Empire’s TIE Fighter is arguably the most intimidating ship in Star Wars, instantly recognizable by its distinct, piercing screech that warns of its approach. Though a single TIE Fighter isn’t much of a threat without a skilled pilot like Poe Dameron at the controls, they’re incredibly effective when flown in large groups. This is why both the First Order and the Final Order continued to use them in the later films, even considering the negative reputation of the Empire’s fleet.

3) The Firespray

Boba Fett is famous for his dramatic entrances. When he appears in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, he arrives in a visually striking ship – now called the Firespray – and equally impressive armor. The Firespray isn’t just one of the most distinctive ships in the Star Wars universe, it’s also packed with features a bounty hunter could want, like a powerful seismic charge that creates a sound rivaling the iconic TIE Fighter scream.

2) The Razor Crest

Mandalorian armor isn’t complete without a cool ship, and Din Djarin definitely travels in style with his Razor Crest in the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Although it’s not the sleekest ship, the Razor Crest’s interior is surprisingly comfortable and practical. It includes useful features like a carbon-freezing chamber – perfect for dealing with unwanted passengers – and a private bedroom where Din can unwind. While the Millennium Falcon has some nice features, the Razor Crest simply offers more appealing amenities.

1) The Ghost

This ship features comfortable sleeping quarters, but its true strength lies in stealth. The Ghost, from Star Wars Rebels, can easily avoid enemy detection and surprise TIE Fighters and other Imperial ships. Adding to its reputation is the fact that Hera Syndulla, the Rebellion’s most skilled pilot, captains the vessel. She and the Ghost are a perfect team, consistently outperforming even Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon.
