The new Masters of the Universe movie has already excited fans, especially with its faithful recreation of the classic characters’ appearances. From the initial glimpses shown at CinemaCon, it’s clear the film is drawing heavily from the original cartoon’s designs. While the cartoon featured a wide range of characters, five actually debuted as action figures before appearing in the series. We’re taking a look at these five characters and how much their original toys are worth today.
5. Stinkor

Okay, so Stinkor is seriously one of my favorite He-Man villains! He’s basically this really smelly guy – and I mean really smelly! He can unleash this awful odor that can actually paralyze people, which is pretty intense. He’s not human, though; he’s from this race called the Peleezeans, who are like skunk people. It’s cool because he’s kind of the opposite of Moss Man, which makes their rivalry even better.
Interestingly, the Stinkor action figure was designed with a built-in, slightly unpleasant smell as one of its features – he’s essentially a skunk-like character! Despite this, vintage, unopened Stinkor figures from the 1984 Masters of the Universe line are still worth around $200 on eBay. While some figures sell for more, the $200 ones tend to attract more interest from potential buyers.
4. Ninjor

Let’s talk about another villain: Ninjor. He was one of the last figures released in the original toy line, but surprisingly, he never appeared in the classic cartoon. This is a shame, considering a comic book called ‘The Search for Keldor’ portrayed him as an incredibly powerful and evil force throughout time and space.
Ninjor’s black and red look remains impressive, and you can still find him for sale on eBay. However, expect to find him used or without the original packaging, as unopened figures are quite expensive – prices start around $400 and can reach as high as $715, as one seller in the US is currently asking.
3. Clamp Champ

Let’s talk about Clamp Champ, one of the heroes of Eternia! Besides having a fantastic name, he’s a palace guard who protects King Randor and Queen Marlena. He’s known for his unique ‘Clamp’ weapon, which is where his name comes from. Like Ninjor, Clamp Champ was released late in the toy line’s run, and his story also comes from ‘The Search for Keldor’.
You can often find individual or used Clamp Champs on eBay, but even those typically cost around $100. If you’re searching for unopened, older versions, the price jumps significantly. For example, one listing is priced at $466 and has 31 people watching it, while another is listed for $424.95 with 11 watchers.
2. Rotar

Rotar is a fascinating character in the Masters of the Universe series. Instead of legs, he has a spinning top, which allows him to move incredibly fast and skillfully avoid attacks during battles. He first appeared in the ‘Energy Zoids’ minicomic, where he was severely wounded. Luckily, Mat-At-Arms was able to save his life by transforming him into an energy zoid.
Adding Rotar to your collection will likely be expensive. Even used figures with most of their parts are selling for over $300 on eBay. A brand new, sealed Rotar figure is currently listed for $895.
1. Twistoid

Rotar and his villainous counterpart, Twistoid, are closely linked. Twistoid was created when Skeletor stole a life-saving machine used on Rotar and made his own version. Like Rotar, Twistoid spins like a top, but he has a brightly colored design with pink, blue, green, and orange.
Right now, finding a brand new, sealed Twistoid on eBay is difficult. Most of the ones available are used or have all their parts but aren’t in the original packaging. These complete, but open-box, versions are selling for between $225 and $375, making it a relatively rare and challenging figure to find.
