5 Missing Dexter Characters Who Could (& Should) Still Return in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

Fans are eagerly anticipating the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, wondering which familiar faces will appear. Since its debut in 2006, Dexter and its complex main character – a serial killer – captivated viewers. The show’s unique premise, featuring a murderer who worked as a police officer by day and a vigilante at night, quickly gained a dedicated following. Though the original series had a controversial ending, Dexter has remained popular, leading to multiple sequel shows that continue his story years later.

The first season of Dexter: Resurrection ended with a lot of exciting possibilities, and fans are eager to see what happens next. Several familiar characters haven’t appeared in a while, and many viewers are hoping to see them return. Based on what happened in season one and what fans want, here are some characters who could – and should – reappear in the next season.

5) Hannah McKay

Originally, the show planned for Hannah McKay to die from cancer off-screen. However, some fans of Dexter: Resurrection believe reports of her death might not be true. Because we never actually saw her die, and she played a significant role in Dexter’s life, her return in season 2 could create major drama. While it’s unlikely, it’s possible Hannah faked her death and will reappear in Dexter: Resurrection season 2.

4) Cody Bennett

Cody Bennett used to be a significant character in the show Dexter. As Rita Bennett’s son and Dexter Morgan’s stepson, he played an important role in Dexter’s attempt to build a normal family life. After Rita’s death, however, Cody disappeared from the storyline. Bringing him back, especially alongside his half-brother Harrison, could create a compelling narrative and also serve as a way to acknowledge Rita’s absence – she wasn’t even given a brief appearance in Dexter: New Blood.

3) Astor Bennett

Astor Bennett, like her brother Cody, is expected to reappear in season 2 of Resurrection. After being written off the original Dexter series following their mother’s death, bringing Astor back could create a challenging family situation for Dexter. Her return, along with Cody’s, would likely bring up memories of Dexter’s late wife, adding dramatic tension and connecting the new season to the earlier storylines of the original show.

2) Jonah Mitchell

Jonah Mitchell isn’t one of the most prominent characters in Dexter, but his link to the notorious Trinity Killer makes his possible return interesting. After the events of the show, Jonah started a new, normal life elsewhere. However, some fans believe he could be the main villain in season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection, and it’s a surprisingly strong idea. Given how much the Trinity Killer affected Dexter, facing his son would create a compelling storyline for the new season.

1) Jamie Batista

As a longtime Dexter fan, I was really floored by Angel Batista’s death in season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection. It felt like a huge shift, and it’s definitely opened up some interesting possibilities for season 2. I’m especially hoping we see Jamie again. She was Harrison’s babysitter way back in season 6, and with Angel gone, it would make so much sense for her to reappear, maybe to deal with her grief and reconnect with the Morgans. Honestly, bringing her back would be a fantastic move for the show and add a really compelling layer to everything happening in Resurrection.
