5 Missing MCU Characters Powerful Enough To Take Down Sentry

Lewis Pullman joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Sentry, Robert Reynolds, in *Thunderbolts*. He’s being presented as an incredibly powerful new hero, but there are still characters within the Marvel universe who could defeat him. While Marvel Studios has brought many iconic heroes to life in the MCU, many others remain untapped. Some of these yet-to-appear characters possess the strength to challenge Robert Reynolds, even after he gained immense power from a super-soldier serum developed by the OXE Group.

In the *Thunderbolts* comic series, the team – then known as the New Avengers – couldn’t defeat the Sentry’s evil side, the Void. Ultimately, it was the Sentry himself, Robert Reynolds, who overcame the Void while battling in one of his private, secluded rooms. However, several characters potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe could possess the strength to challenge the Sentry. These five individuals – a mix of heroes, anti-heroes, and villains – could dramatically shift the balance of power in the MCU and dethrone the Sentry.

5) Jean Grey’s Phoenix

When Jean Grey channels the Phoenix Force, a cosmic power representing the very essence of creation, she becomes one of Marvel’s most powerful beings, rivaled only by the highest-level cosmic entities. This makes her more powerful than the Sentry, even with his own cosmic abilities. Even *without* the Phoenix Force, Jean is an incredibly powerful omega-level mutant with both telepathy and telekinesis, and a key member of the original X-Men. While she might not be as physically strong as the Sentry, her other abilities would give her a clear advantage in a fight.

4) Adam Brashear’s Blue Marvel

Okay, so I’ve been diving into the potential showdown between Blue Marvel and the Sentry, and it’s fascinating. Blue Marvel, or Adam Brashear, isn’t just strong – his powers come from a really unique connection to this dimension called the Negative Zone, giving him a serious edge over even someone boosted by a super-soldier serum like the Sentry. Now, in the comics, their fights have gone either way, but generally, when it comes to pure physical strength, Blue Marvel is considered one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, period. He’d likely dominate in a straight-up brawl. The Sentry *does* have telepathy, which throws a wrench into things, but I still think Blue Marvel is durable enough to withstand a lot and would ultimately pull out a victory. It wouldn’t be easy, but I’m betting on Blue Marvel.

3) Norrin Radd’s Silver Surfer

A recent introduction to Shalla-Bal’s Silver Surfer (from Earth 828) showed just how powerful this cosmic hero can be. It’s likely that Norrin Radd, the Silver Surfer from our main Marvel universe (Earth 616), possesses similar abilities, making him far more powerful than the Sentry. In fact, Norrin Radd has everything the Sentry can do, plus much more. His unique, durable skin allows him to travel through space and grants him powers like phasing through objects, manipulating matter, flying at incredible speeds, and more. This mastery of cosmic energy puts the Silver Surfer on a completely different level than the Sentry.

2) David Haller’s Legion

In Marvel Comics, Legion possesses almost limitless power. As the son of Professor X, David Haller is a mutant who can control reality itself, even to the point of erasing things from existence. He’s a much more powerful character than the Sentry; Legion’s abilities far surpass those of the Sentry. While Legion could theoretically eliminate the Sentry, both characters’ mental instability would likely make any confrontation chaotic and unpredictable.

1) Owen Reece’s Molecule Man

Owen Reece, also known as Molecule Man, played a central role in the 2015 Marvel Comics event *Secret Wars*, and his introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) seems possible. If Doctor Doom finds him, as potentially shown in *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*, we could see Molecule Man and the Sentry finally clash. In the comics, these two have fought many times, and bringing that rivalry to life on screen would be exciting. Molecule Man is incredibly powerful – he can control all matter and energy, and even change reality itself. Characters as strong as Galactus are even afraid of him, and the Sentry wouldn’t stand a chance against his immense power.
