With decades of history, One Piece boasts a huge and detailed world filled with a massive cast of characters. The series continues to improve, constantly revealing new secrets about its characters and their history. Originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997, it has become the best-selling manga series ever. Now in its final story arc, the adventure isn’t over yet – the Straw Hat Pirates are currently journeying to the legendary land of the Giants in the ongoing Elbaph Arc.
I’ve been watching this series for a long time – almost thirty years now – and it has a lot of story arcs, over thirty in fact. It’s natural that not every single one is a home run. While many of them are interesting enough, I found myself a little bored with some, especially when thinking about how amazing arcs like Marineford and Enies Lobby were, or how much hype surrounded some of the bigger moments in the story.
5) Punk Hazard Arc

After entering the New World, the Straw Hat Pirates first arrive at Punk Hazard, an island split between extreme cold and intense heat. This division is the result of a ten-day battle between Akainu and Aokiji. The Punk Hazard arc establishes the partnership between Trafalgar Law and Luffy, who plan to take down Kaido. However, beyond these important plot points and character introductions, the arc lacks consistently exciting moments to fully engage the audience.
4) Thriller Bark

The Thriller Bark arc follows the events of Enies Lobby and features the introduction of Brook, the Straw Hat crew’s musician. While it has some funny moments – typical for the series – the storyline itself isn’t particularly strong. The villains are also quite unremarkable, which makes it hard to get invested in their scenes.
3) Fish-Man Island Arc

Once reunited, the Straw Hat Pirates journey to Fish-Man Island and face new dangers. This arc explores important story themes and introduces Joyboy, a significant figure from the past. Despite its rich backstory and compelling setup, the arc is often overlooked due to a disappointing main villain, Hody Jones. This is why many fans consider Fish-Man Island to be one of the most underrated arcs in the series.
2) Amazon Lily Arc
