5 Naruto Characters Stronger Than Sasuke

I’m a huge fan of Naruto, and one of the things I love most about shonen anime is watching characters get stronger and stronger! That’s totally Sasuke Uchiha. From the very beginning, it’s clear he’s on this path to power, and by the end of the series, he’s easily one of the most powerful ninjas around. It’s so satisfying to see his growth!

Even though Sasuke becomes incredibly powerful by the end of the Naruto series, he isn’t stronger than everyone. The power levels of characters change throughout the story, and several individuals ultimately exceed his abilities. Here are five characters who are more powerful than Sasuke in various ways.

5) Madara Uchiha

Madara Uchiha is a central villain in the Naruto series and is considered one of its most powerful characters, even stronger than Sasuke. He was a powerful leader of the Uchiha clan, famously controlling the Nine-Tails and being the first Uchiha to fully unlock the Sharingan’s potential. After being brought back to life, Madara became incredibly strong, with enough power and chakra to single-handedly defeat entire armies.

Madara is significantly more powerful than Sasuke, and a direct fight would likely result in Madara’s victory. Facing reanimated Madara, Sasuke – or almost anyone else – would have no realistic chance of winning on their own.

4) Itachi Uchiha

Madara was a brilliant leader and the first to fully unlock the Sharingan’s power, but Itachi, Sasuke’s brother, was an even more exceptional talent. Itachi truly excelled at Genjutsu, and to this day, no one has been able to match his skill in that area.

The fight between Itachi and Sasuke proved Itachi was the more powerful ninja. Throughout their battle, Itachi clearly held back, showing he could have defeated Sasuke at any time. He did this because he loved his brother and was weakened by his sickness. If he’d been healthy and fought seriously, Itachi would have undoubtedly won, even against Sasuke at his peak strength by the end of the Naruto series.

3) Hagoromo Otsutsuki

Hagoromo Otsutsuki is considered a god-like figure and was one of the earliest beings on Earth to use chakra. He defeated his own mother and then split the immense power of the Ten-Tails into the nine separate tailed beasts we know today. He’s also credited with starting the Uchiha clan by giving them the Sharingan ability.

Hagoromo’s incredible abilities clearly establish him as a supremely powerful character with a vast range of skills. He would easily win in a one-on-one fight against Sasuke, and likely even against Naruto. This is partly because Hagoromo was the one who originally gave Naruto his power over the tailed beasts, and he has greater mastery over them than either Naruto or Sasuke, allowing him to easily defeat either one.

2) Kaguya Otsutsuki

Kaguya is undoubtedly more powerful than Sasuke. As the main villain of Naruto and a god-like being with endless energy, she’s established as the strongest character in the entire series.

Although Naruto and Sasuke defeated Kaguya with support from their allies, either of them would be no match for her in a solo battle. Considered the source of chakra and wielding both the Byakugan and Sharingan, she would easily overpower Sasuke—or anyone else—in a one-on-one fight.

1) Naruto Uzumaki

It’s rare for the second main character in a shonen anime to become stronger than the main one, and Naruto follows this pattern. Naruto Uzumaki is clearly more powerful than Sasuke, not just at the end of the series, but also in many scenes throughout. He consistently demonstrates greater strength and skill.

During the final fight, even after Sasuke captured all the Tailed Beasts, Naruto was still able to match him in power. This highlights that Naruto is stronger than Sasuke – especially considering Sasuke was fighting with the intent to kill, while Naruto was holding back, hoping to reason with his friend. This difference in approach, and the outcome, reinforces that Naruto was always meant to be the more powerful of the two, and the story supports this.
