The team behind the hit movie KPop Demon Hunters is officially starting work on a sequel. KPop Demon Hunters became Netflix’s most-watched film ever, and a follow-up has been expected for some time. Now that it’s confirmed, fans are eager to see what the new movie will bring, and there are many unanswered questions from the first film that need to be addressed.

The debut of KPop Demon Hunters quickly gained a following thanks to its fantastic music and the detailed world it created. It’s obvious there’s a lot of potential for future stories, and fans are already wondering what could happen next. The first film left a few key questions unanswered that we hope the next movie will address.

5). What Is the Origin of The Hunters’ Powers?

The story of KPop Demon Hunters begins by hinting at a history where a powerful demon named Gwi-Ma forced humanity to create special protectors. These protectors, who lived double lives as idols throughout the years, worked to seal a border between worlds called the Honmoon. The series hasn’t fully explained how this system of protectors and the Honmoon actually functions, and fans—like those of anime—are eager to learn more about the details of its power system.

We still have a lot to learn about how the Honmoon functions, and even more questions about the source of its powers. Why do hunters need to be idols, and how does the power of singing and harmony actually work against demons? These mysteries are at the heart of the story as we delve into the origins of everything.

4). What Happened With the Past Hunters?

It might be better to address this in future spin-offs, but KPop Demon Hunters 2 would be a great opportunity to share more about the previous generation of Hunters before HUNTR/X took over. Exploring the origins of their powers could go hand-in-hand with revealing more about these earlier Hunters, as there are still many unanswered questions about how this lineage works. Specifically, it’s unclear how and when Hunters pass their responsibilities on to the next generation.

Learning more about previous Hunters and their battles with Gwi-Ma could help us understand the current generation better. Now that Gwi-Ma is defeated and things are looking up, exploring the past might also hint at future dangers – perhaps an even stronger demon exists, and these earlier Hunters hold the secret to defeating it.

3). What Is Zoey’s Origin Story?

The first KPop Demon Hunters film had a big job: it had to establish the world the story takes place in and focus on Rumi, the lead singer of HUNTR/X. Her personal journey drove the plot of the first movie, which meant Zoey’s story felt secondary. We only learned that Zoey lived a double life, trying to balance conflicting loyalties as she searched for her own identity.

We only catch glimpses of Zoey’s difficult childhood spent growing up in various countries and feeling alone, but her story feels ripe for exploration in the next installment. Giving her a more substantial backstory would add depth to her character and give audiences something more to connect with.

2). What Is Mira’s Origin Story?

Mira’s situation is similar. Although her first film offered more insight into her personality through her relationship with Rumi, we still don’t know much about her personal life, particularly her family. Exploring her family background would help us understand Rumi’s family dynamics and what those relationships mean. We’re left wondering if Mira is estranged from her family to the point of not seeing them anymore, and that remains a possibility.

Mira played a crucial role in supporting Rumi’s emotional growth in the first movie, and now she deserves a chance to explore her own feelings. Since she was such a strong support system for everyone else, delving into her past and addressing any hidden anxieties could give her character more depth and development.

1). Is Jinu Really Dead?

Despite the potential for exciting new stories in a sequel, KPop Demon Hunters needs to resolve a key question. The connection between Jinu and Rumi was central to the first movie, and Jinu’s sacrifice was crucial to their victory over Gwi-Ma. Now that the story is continuing, fans are wondering if Jinu is truly gone, or if there’s a way Rumi might be able to bring him back.

Honestly, the idea of not bringing Jinu back for another season just doesn’t sit right with me! A lot of fans actually preferred Jinu and the Saja Boys to HUNTR/X, so leaving him out feels like a missed opportunity. Plus, his return could open up some amazing possibilities – like finally finding out if Gwi-Ma is really gone for good. It’s a question I’m dying to see answered!
