5 Things the Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Must Include After Such a Long Wait

It’s surprising that we haven’t seen a trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled for release in July. This is especially unusual considering Marvel has already released four short teasers for Avengers: Doomsday, coming out in December – five months later! The lack of a trailer for either film during the Super Bowl left many fans wondering why Marvel was being so reserved with its 2026 movie announcements. However, this secrecy is actually building excitement for the new Spider-Man movie.

Here are five things that Spider-Man: Brand New Day needs to show to pay off such a long wait.

5) Zendaya’s MJ

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man used magic to make everyone forget who he was, including his close friends Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya). The next trailer should feature at least one of them, and ideally MJ, as Zendaya is just as popular as Tom Holland, and fans are eager to find out if she’ll have a significant role in future movies.

Beyond the mystery surrounding MJ, fans are also wondering what’s next for Peter Parker’s friend, Ned Leeds. Both Jacob Batalon and Zendaya are returning for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Ned’s future is uncertain. Without Peter, could Ned go down a darker path and potentially become the Hobgoblin? The possibility of a storyline based on the ‘Mob Wars’ comic suggests that Peter erasing his identity might have unforeseen consequences.

4) Spider-Man’s New Costume in Action

As a long-time follower of the MCU’s Spider-Man, I’ve watched Peter Parker go through quite a wardrobe change! It started with a really basic, homemade suit, then Tony Stark stepped in and gave him a high-tech, AI-powered one. We saw a couple more iterations after that – including the cool Iron Spider suit – but by the end of No Way Home, I was genuinely wondering what he’d be wearing next. Without Iron Man building the tech, it felt like anything was possible, and it left me eager to see what direction they’d take with his look.

Tom Holland shared a sneak peek of the new Spider-Man suit online, and that’s currently the only official look fans have gotten. Unlike previous versions, this suit appears to be a simpler, softer blue and red design. The next trailer should show Spider-Man using the suit so fans can see how it compares to his older costumes.

3) The Punisher

The exciting news is that Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as the Punisher in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, details about his character’s involvement are still unknown. If the film follows the pattern of the Punisher’s initial appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man, he might mistakenly believe Spider-Man is a criminal and pursue him as such.

It’s possible the Punisher and Spider-Man are both after the same people – those involved in the city’s mob war. Because the Punisher kills criminals while Spider-Man tries to avoid it, they’re likely to clash. The trailer should give us some hint of their connection, even if it’s just a glimpse of the Punisher targeting Spider-Man.

2) Sadie Sink

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie is the role Sadie Sink will play. When the trailer is released, it should reveal her character, rather than keeping it a secret until the film comes out. Many fans believe she might be playing Jean Grey, and that’s currently the most popular guess.

It’s intriguing that the X-Men haven’t appeared in this world yet, but this character might be its version of Jean Grey. Given hints from the Wonder Man series that he’s a mutant, and the possibility that Ms. Marvel is one too, it seems mutants already exist. However, she could also be a different character, like Black Cat, and the trailer should at least reveal something about her role in the movie.

1) Spider-Man Vs. The Hulk

The most important thing the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie needs to establish is the appearance of the Hulk. When news broke that Mark Ruffalo would reprise his role as the classic, angry Hulk, many fans were thrilled, especially those who disliked the ‘Smart Hulk’ version. The trailer doesn’t need to explain how Hulk appears or show him fighting, but it does need to confirm that he’s actually in the movie.

Many Marvel fans don’t actively seek out news about upcoming movies, so they’re likely unaware that Hulk will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While the trailer could focus on several things – a potential mob war, Spider-Man’s new suit, and the Punisher targeting a new enemy, plus a tease of Sadie Sink – a quick shot of Hulk losing control would generate the most excitement and buzz for the film.
