5 Things to Look Forward to From DC Comics in 2025

DC Comics had a fantastic 2025, largely thanks to its ambitious ‘All In’ initiative. The initiative brought fans new characters, ideas, and even entire universes across a wide range of comic books. While 2025 was a clear success, many wondered if DC could maintain that momentum. Fortunately, plans for 2026 show that DC Comics has no intention of slowing down.

DC Comics seems to be building on what worked well in 2025. Recent announcements reveal a busy year ahead, starting with the finale of DC K.O., the return of the Vertigo imprint, and a wave of new and accessible comic series under the DC Next Level banner. There’s a lot to be excited about for DC fans in 2026 – here are 5 highlights.

5. The Conclusion of DC K.O.

DC K.O. has been an incredible event so far, and there’s still plenty more to come! The last three issues will be released in early 2026, and we have a sneak peek at what’s in store: the final eight competitors battling it out, Darkseid employing his strongest champions to eliminate the rest, and even a crossover featuring characters like Homelander, Sabrina, and Annabelle from The Conjuring. This story has been a lot of fun, and I predict the ending will be truly epic.

4. The Relaunch of Vertigo

After a long wait, the Vertigo imprint is returning to DC Comics, and they’re launching with a big collection of nearly a dozen new titles! Fans can look forward to continuations of series like 100 Bullets and Nice House on the Sea, plus exciting new work from talented creators including Deniz Campa, Ram V, Mariko Tamaki, Kyle Starks, Steve Pugh, Derek Robertson, Mike Perkins, and Eduardo Risso. I’m especially excited about Bleeding Hearts and End of Life, but with such a diverse lineup, there really seems to be something for every reader.

3. Expansion of the Absolute Line

DC Comics had a very successful 2025, largely due to their Absolute Universe series, so it’s no surprise they’re expanding it next year. We’ll be getting new Absolute editions of Green Arrow by Pornsak Pichetshote and Rafael Albuquerque, and Catwoman by Che Grayson, Scott Snyder, and Bengal, though exact release dates haven’t been announced yet. While I think DC should be careful not to overdo the Absolute line, it’s been fantastic so far, and I’m really looking forward to seeing these new stories for Green Arrow and Catwoman.

2. Superman and Spider-Man’s Crossover

Fans were thrilled to see DC and Marvel team up again after over two decades with the recent Batman and Deadpool crossovers, and it’s great news that they’re planning more! In 2026, we can look forward to two new team-ups featuring Superman and Spider-Man, beginning with a special DC comic called Superman/Spider-Man. The comic will feature work from a fantastic group of creators, including Mark Waid, Jorge Jiménez, Matt Fraction, Steve Lieber, Sean Murphy, Christopher Priest, and Nicola Scott, among others. Having really enjoyed the Batman/Deadpool series, I’m equally excited about Superman/Spider-Man.

1. DC Next Level

Following the success of the 2025 ‘DC All In’ event, 2026 will be marked by a new initiative called ‘DC Next Level.’ Similar to ‘All In,’ ‘Next Level’ promises significant changes to the DC Universe, including major developments like the temporary absence of Superman and Aquaman evolving into a powerful cosmic hero. Plus, DC Comics will be launching new ongoing comic book series for characters like Lobo, Batwoman, and Deathstroke. Building on the momentum of ‘All In,’ DC is making a smart move to keep that energy going into 2026.
