5 Things We Want to See in Avengers: Doomsday’s First Trailer

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is expected to arrive soon, and it needs to deliver to satisfy eager Marvel fans. This film is set to be the biggest Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame (2019), bringing together a new group of heroes, including Sam Wilson as Captain America (Anthony Mackie). We’ll also see major roles for the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Thunderbolts/New Avengers, with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) as the main villain. As a key event leading up to Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), Doomsday has a lot riding on it, and the first trailer will be crucial in either building excitement or potentially disappointing fans.

The first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday doesn’t have a release date yet, but some believe it could show up in movie theaters before Avatar: Fire and Ash hits screens on December 19th, according to Collider. It might even appear online before then. To really get fans excited, the first trailer should include these five key things.

5) Sam Wilson’s Avengers and the New Avengers Together

Currently, the Avengers team in Doomsday includes Captain America, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Black Panther (Letitia Wright as Shuri), and Falcon (Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres). This team is expected to clash with the Thunderbolts, who have recently been established as the world’s new protectors following the events of their own movie. The Thunderbolts – a group of anti-heroes consisting of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Sentry (Lewis Pullman) – will likely have their position as protectors questioned.

As a huge Avengers fan, I’m really hoping we’ll see both Sam’s team and the New Avengers fighting Doctor Doom together! I expect there might be some friction at first – figuring out who really counts as an Avenger, you know? But with a threat that spans the multiverse, they’ll have to put aside their differences. I’m dying to see them in the first trailer for Doomsday – even a little disagreement or a quick battle scene would be amazing. Honestly, any interaction between these two groups would be perfect for setting up the story and getting us hyped for what’s to come!

4) Reed Richards Meeting Doctor Doom

Fans are especially excited about the potential meeting between Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic (played by Pedro Pascal), and Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. These characters have a famous, complicated rivalry in Marvel comics, built on both their shared genius and competitive spirits. There’s a lot of backstory the movie could draw from. While The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) establishes that this version of Doctor Doom comes from another universe (Earth-828), he only appears briefly in a post-credits scene. Even a short scene of Mr. Fantastic and Doom interacting, or even a quick fight, would likely generate a lot of excitement for the film.

3) Doctor Doom’s Full Appearance

As a big Marvel fan, I was really intrigued by the tiny glimpse we got of Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four: First Steps – just the back of his head and him holding his mask. It definitely built anticipation! Now, I’m hoping the first trailer for Doomsday will finally give us a full look at Robert Downey Jr. as the villain. Seeing his classic green and metallic costume would be amazing, of course. But honestly, I’d be thrilled if the trailer went even further and showed us what Doom looks like under the mask. It’ll be interesting to see how the movie handles the character’s famously scarred face, especially with Downey Jr. in the role, and a reveal in the trailer would be a fantastic surprise.

2) Avengers and X-Men Interactions

It’s surprising, but exciting, to see the X-Men characters return after more than ten years, especially as part of an Avengers movie. This crossover, happening in Doomsday, promises thrilling action and interesting new relationships between the characters. Having Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and the rest of the X-Men meet the Avengers opens up countless possibilities for the story. Showing even a glimpse of their interactions in the first trailer for Doomsday would give fans a good idea of what to expect from their teamwork in the film.

1) A Major Character Reveal

The recent announcement of 27 actors for Doomsday was done by showing their names on chairs, but fans are still wondering who else will be in the movie. Marvel should take advantage of the first trailer to surprise everyone with a previously unrevealed actor and character. There’s a lot of speculation about who this could be, with popular choices including Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, and Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch. The trailer is guaranteed to be a huge hit, but revealing a well-known MCU character would make it even more exciting and officially confirm their role in the film.
