Following the incredibly popular Jujutsu Kaisen, the sequel series Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has quickly become a hit with fans. It succeeds by continuing the story directly from the original, which has kept readers invested in seeing what happens to their favorite characters.
Throughout its run, the manga skillfully revisited beloved parts of the original story, successfully keeping readers engaged. The ending also seems stronger than the first one, offering a more satisfying and complete resolution. However, the sequel isn’t perfect, and there are five specific choices that don’t quite add up.
5) Not Concluding the Main Fight

Watching the series come to a close, it definitely fell into the typical pattern for action-packed shows – wrapping things up with big battles. The finale of Modulo actually gave us two major fights. They did a great job finishing the conflict between Tsurugi and Maru, but left another, even more epic battle unresolved. Honestly, the fight between Dabura and Mahoraga was incredible – right up there with the best battles the whole franchise has ever offered, like Sukuna versus Mahoraga or Gojo against Sukuna and Mahoraga.
Each chapter brought unexpected turns and changed who seemed likely to win, building excitement among fans. That’s why it’s frustrating the fight ends so suddenly without a clear resolution. By not naming a winner, the series diminishes the importance of the conflict and quickly loses the suspense it had carefully created.
4) Cure of Yuka’s Sickness

Yuka was a key character, and the story quickly established her as someone facing a terminal illness – a brain tumor. This immediately created high stakes and hinted at a moving conclusion for her. Her selfless act of sacrificing herself to protect the sorcerers from Dabura felt like a natural culmination of her story. However, the story took an unexpected turn near the end, revealing that Maru’s final ritual had actually cured her illness.
Honestly, one of the biggest mysteries is how Yuka actually got better! The show never really tells us, so everyone assumes it had something to do with Maru’s ritual. But it kind of bothers me, because Yuka’s whole journey was about her strength as a fighter and everything she went through to get there. Seeing her suddenly healed feels…off. What I loved about Jujutsu Kaisen was its willingness to take risks and even kill off characters, which made it different from a lot of other shows like it. Yuka surviving just doesn’t quite fit with that bold approach, you know?
3) Mahito’s Existence

Bringing back Mahito in the sequel was a memorable nod to the original series, but it doesn’t quite add up. Considering he was defeated and hasn’t been seen for almost seventy years, the explanation that he’s still somehow alive in a mysterious place with no recollection of it feels forced and doesn’t fit well with the rest of the story.
While it was great to see Mahito back as the memorable villain he is, his return feels more like a marketing tactic to create excitement than a logical part of the story. This is surprising for Jujutsu Kaisen, which usually carefully explains even minor plot points.
2) Dabura and Kyoko’s Potential Romance

I’ve been following Jujutsu Kaisen, and while it delivers on everything you expect from a shonen series, romance hasn’t really been a focus. That’s why the ending of the sequel, which suggests a relationship between Dabura and Kyoko, felt a bit strange to me. Kyoko started out as a pretty minor character – just a nutritionist – but suddenly, from their first scene together, it seemed like she had romantic feelings for Dabura. It just didn’t quite fit with what we’d seen before.
At first, the interaction between these characters was played for laughs, but the story’s ending implies Dabura came back to Earth for Kyoko. This feels sudden and doesn’t quite fit, as there was never any indication he felt the same way about her. Focusing on a romance between them doesn’t make much sense, especially considering the main story is about the war between the Simurians and humans.
1) Megumi’s Fate

I was completely hooked by Jujutsu Kaisen – the story and characters felt so fresh! Everyone was dying to know what would happen next, and honestly, Megumi was the character I was most worried about. Sadly, even after finishing the sequel, his fate is still really unclear, which is frustrating but also keeps me thinking about it!
Even at the very end, the story doesn’t explain what happens to Megumi Fushiguro, a key character. This is frustrating, because the side story, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, wraps things up nicely for almost everyone else.
