5 Upcoming 2026 Games That Seem Perfect for Expedition 33 Fans

I was completely blown away when Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came out in early 2025! It quickly became my favorite RPG, and it seemed like everyone else loved it too – critics went wild, and it won a ton of awards. It’s tough to find another game that captures the same magic, but I’m really excited about these upcoming titles that I think fellow Expedition 33 fans will enjoy when they’re released in 2026. They seem to have that same engaging gameplay, beautiful art style, and focus on great characters that made Expedition 33 so special.

Here are five 2026 RPGs that Expedition 33 fans should keep an eye on.

5) DecaPolice

Level-5, the creators of popular games like Ni no Kuni, Professor Layton, and Inazuma Eleven, is developing DecaPolice. Originally planned for release in 2023, the game has faced delays and is now expected in 2026. However, early looks suggest this “crime-suspense RPG” could be worth the wait.

Level-5 games are known for being fun to play and looking great, and the trailers for DecaPolice suggest it will be no different. It seems to combine the mystery-solving of the Professor Layton series with the RPG battles found in games like Ni no Kuni and Yo-kai Watch. Plus, if the trailer is any indication, the game will feature a really catchy soundtrack while you investigate crimes in a large, open virtual world.

4) Clockwork Revolution

Fans of Expedition 33 can expect a very different experience with Clockwork Revolution. It’s a first-person action RPG, marking a big change in gameplay. However, if you appreciate a distinctive style, the upcoming game from InXile Entertainment is definitely worth checking out. While there isn’t a confirmed release date yet, if it comes out in 2026, be sure to keep an eye on it.

The game takes place in a steampunk city called Avalon, where you play as Morgan Vanette. They become caught up in a thrilling adventure that involves traveling through time. While playing, the gameplay will feel similar to Fallout, but exploring Avalon itself is designed to recapture the enchanting atmosphere of the Clair Obscur universe.

3) The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Blood of Dawnwalker is very similar to The Witcher 3, but with a focus on vampires. The developers at Rebel Wolves haven’t hidden this inspiration, and if they succeed, the game could be a huge success. Players take on the role of a Dawnwalker, who relies on combat and cunning to survive the day, but nighttime brings a significant change in gameplay.

When night falls, you’ll unleash powerful vampire skills to defeat your enemies – like scaling walls, teleporting, and regaining health by biting opponents. This game features fast-paced action, more so than Expedition 33, but if you’re searching for a potentially groundbreaking RPG with blockbuster potential, The Blood of Dawnwalker is definitely one to watch.

2) SacriFire

SacriFire is a new RPG developed by Pixelated Milk. While it moves away from the dreamlike art style of their previous game, Expedition 33, opting for beautiful pixel graphics, it aims to capture players with a distinctive blend of gameplay. SacriFire combines fast-paced, real-time combat with more thoughtful, turn-based battles, creating a strategic and visually impressive experience that fans of Expedition 33 should enjoy.

With a narrative Pixelated Milk describes as morally nuanced and a clever twist on typical RPG elements, this game has strong potential to become a hit with players. Plus, the incredible Motoi Sakuraba – known for his work on games like Mario Golf, Golden Sun, and Dark Souls – is composing the soundtrack, which is a huge bonus.

1) Fable

Just like with Clockwork Revolution, we’re still not certain if Fable will be released this year. Development of the Fable reboot started at Playground Games back in 2016, but we didn’t see actual gameplay until 2023. Originally planned for release this year, the game’s launch was delayed to 2026 in February 2025. It’s been a lengthy development process, but if Fable does come out in 2026, it has the potential to be a huge success for Xbox.

The original Fable games were popular because they attempted to create a truly dynamic experience where player choices had a real impact. While the developers didn’t always succeed perfectly, their ambition was admirable. Now, if Playground Games can recreate that sense of wonder and possibility, they have the potential to elevate the series to new heights. Early trailers look promising, leading many to believe the new Fable will finally deliver on the promise of a truly reactive and immersive world.
