It’s common for TV shows to receive good reviews, and many consistently earn positive feedback season after season. While a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes isn’t impossible – the latest season of From recently achieved it – it’s still rare. What’s extremely unusual is a show where every season gets a 100% rating. Now, after five years, a little-noticed thriller on Netflix has done just that.
Season two of the Danish crime series The Chestnut Man, now called Hide and Seek, is currently available on Netflix. The show, which first premiered in 2021, was a critical hit, earning a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Though a renewal wasn’t announced until 2024, the new season – based on the novel by Søren Sveistrup – is already receiving the same praise. All six episodes of Hide and Seek are available to stream now.
The Chestnut Man Is the Best Crime Thriller You’re Not Watching
Season one of The Chestnut Man, starring Danica Curcic and Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, centers around Detective Naia Thulin and her partner Mark Hess as they investigate the brutal murder of a young woman in Copenhagen. They quickly realize they’re hunting a serial killer. The series is a strong example of Nordic Noir – dark, unsettling, and deliberately paced – making it a compelling watch.
Despite a long wait between seasons, the show hasn’t lost its quality – it’s actually gotten better. The new season jumps ahead five years, showing us that Naia and Mark used to date, though their relationship ended poorly. Now, they’re forced to work together again while investigating a disturbing new killer who taunts victims with rhyming messages before attacking. This added history and character development only strengthens the show’s already excellent storytelling, as reflected in its perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Chestnut Man and The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek are now streaming on Netflix.
