5’s returning thriller led by The Crown star has release date confirmed

The popular drama series ‘The Teacher’ is returning for a third season. Sheridan Smith starred in the first season back in 2022, and Kara Tointon led the second season in 2024. The release date for the new season has now been announced.

I’m really excited for the new season to start! It’s kicking off on Monday, March 30th at 9pm on Channel 5, and I’m especially thrilled to see Victoria Hamilton taking the lead role – she’s fantastic.

Okay, so here’s the deal with when you can watch the rest of this season. Three new episodes are dropping each night – Tuesday the 31st, Wednesday the 1st, and Thursday the 2nd – all at 9pm. But if you can’t wait, the whole season will be available to stream starting at 10pm this Monday the 30th. Basically, you’ve got options!

Season two of The Teacher features a talented cast including Steve Edge, Rochenda Sandall, Alice Grant, Olly Rhodes, Peter Ash, Navin Chowdhry, Ellis Jupiter, Shak Benjamin, Malek Alkoni, and Natalie Gavin, alongside Kelvin Fletcher as Hamilton.

In season 3, Hamilton stars as Helen Simpson, a seasoned teacher of thirty years who doesn’t agree with what she sees as current, overly-sensitive trends among younger people.

The story continues with Cressida Bancroft, a popular and influential student, resenting Helen for labeling her as overly focused on social justice to win favor with others. Feeling wronged, Cressida decides to make Helen’s life difficult, eventually extending her efforts to target Helen’s family, including her son, Sam.

Helen learns more about Cressida’s difficult past, revealing a history of pain and abandonment. But will understanding Cressida’s story be enough to prevent her from seeking ultimate revenge?

In addition to portraying the Queen Mother in the first two seasons of The Crown, Hamilton has appeared in several other popular TV series, including Lark Rise to Candleford, Doctor Foster, Life, COBRA, The Crow Girl, Unforgotten, and Slow Horses.

In its first two seasons, The Teacher has also featured appearances by Samuel Bottomley, Cecilia Noble, Sharon Rooney, Will Mellor, and Emmett J Scanlan.

The Teacher will air on 5 from 9pm on Monday 30 March.
