When the Hulk debuted in Marvel Comics, he was already a formidable character, much like Superman in DC Comics. However, much like these other iconic heroes, the Hulk’s power levels have grown over time. Initially, he possessed superhuman strength and the ability to leap great distances, but Marvel decided to take him to another level, making him a character with infinite strength that intensifies with his rage. As a result, the Hulk’s enemies often meet their doom in ways that no other Marvel hero can replicate.

Instead of obliterating villains with his immense power, or causing chaos across an entire nation and annihilating colossal perils, some of Hulk’s most impressive smashing instances are undeniably breathtaking.

6) Hulk Smashes 2 Tanks, Causing Them to Shoot Down 2 Jets

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at some of The Incredible Hulk’s most memorable moments, which aren’t always tied to battles against other superheroes or villains. Instead, these instances often stem from Hulk’s uncontrollable rage, underscoring his undeniable strength. One such instance is found in Issue #121 of The Incredible Hulk, published back in 1969 – a time when Hulk was still far from achieving godlike strength. However, the line was crossed when General Ross persistently attacked Hulk without respite. On this particular occasion, Hulk’s patience wore thin. In numerous instances, we’ve witnessed Hulk shatter the earth and clear a path. This time, though, his power was truly spectacular. With a single, earth-shattering smash, Hulk sent two of Ross’s military tanks skyward while they were still firing upon him. Instead of colliding with Hulk, these tanks soared so high that they knocked down not one, but two fighter jets also engaged in hostilities against the green giant. With a single blow to the ground, Hulk managed to take out two tanks and two fighter jets simultaneously – a testament to his unparalleled might.

5) Punched Wolverine So Hard He Flew From New York to Boston

Garth Ennis has never been fond of superheroes, but he found a unique voice with Marvel Comics through his work on The Punisher. Although Marvel occasionally required him to include other superheroes in the series, Ennis often portrayed them in a way that made the super-powered characters appear foolish. His main focus seemed to be Wolverine. In one instance, he had The Punisher run over Wolverine with a steamroller, flattening him. Another time, Ennis introduced Hulk and Wolverine into Punisher Vol. 6 #37, the final issue of that series. In this comic, Hulk hit Wolverine so forcefully that he sent him from New York City to Boston – a distance of approximately 215 miles. When Wolverine stood up, dazed, the Boston Police Department arrived on the scene to investigate.

On various instances, the Hulk has deployed his thunderous smash, primarily to repel hordes of adversaries or hostile forces, frequently eliminating multiple foes simultaneously. Notably, he employed this power in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. However, his most potent thunderous smash transpired in The Incredible Hulk Annual, Volume 1 Issue #5. In this comic, he was engaged in a battle against a villain’s replica named Diablo, crafted by the titan Xemnu to torment the Hulk. This was one of five replica monsters dispatched after the Hulk, and he vanquished each one of them. Diablo is a being composed entirely of smoke and virtually impervious to all attacks. Nevertheless, the Hulk discovered a method to obliterate him with his thunderous smash, which scattered the entire entity into nothingness. He was equipped with a jet-propelled device and used his brute force alone to annihilate the colossal asteroid—an asteroid that was estimated to be approximately 169.6940727 zerrratons in size.

2) World War Hulk vs. Iron Man

It’s possible that no character within the Marvel universe was as powerful as World Breaker Hulk during the “World War Hulk” storyline. The Illuminati tricked him into leaving Earth, but he found tranquility on the planet Sakaar. However, a bomb explosion killed his spouse and everything he cherished, which he believed was orchestrated by the Illuminati too. Upon returning to Earth, he confronted Black Bolt first, and their battle was fully depicted in the book. The initial fight against Iron Man in the Hulkbuster armor didn’t stand a chance against Hulk in “World War Hulk” #1, as he effortlessly defeated him. He later fought Sentry to a draw, only stopping when he was persuaded to do so. In “World War Hulk,” no one could overcome Hulk.

In the ’90s, Marvel decided on a major overhaul of their comic series, which unfolded through the Onslaught saga. This menacing villain was born when Professor X inadvertently sealed Magneto’s mind, and he proved unstoppable, even with the combined efforts of the X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four failing to curb his power. Recognizing that he might be the only hope, Hulk asked Jean Grey to erase Bruce Banner’s consciousness from within his mind in “Onslaught: Marvel Universe” #1. With no humanity left, Hulk’s strength became boundless, and he launched a full-scale assault on Onslaught. The battle was intense, culminating in Hulk delivering such a powerful blow that the universe itself imploded, bringing everything to an end. This event paved the way for Heroes Reborn, due to Franklin Richards’ swift decision-making and creation of a parallel universe. However, it was Hulk’s devastating final attack that ended Onslaught’s reign, but at the cost of all life in existence.
