You won’t want to miss DC Comics’ latest event! DC K.O. is an epic crossover where heroes and villains compete in a universe-spanning tournament to stop Darkseid. He’s trying to collect Omega Energy to take over everything! To gain even more power, the fighters will soon step outside the DC Universe and challenge characters from other popular franchises in the special issue DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1.
At last month’s New York Comic-Con, DC Comics gave fans a sneak peek at the upcoming bonus round of DC K.O., mentioning characters like Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. However, even with the latest announcements, it’s still unclear who will be battling which crossover character. Luckily, a variant cover for DC K.O. #3 by Dan Mora revealed the Elite Eight fighters, allowing us to make some informed predictions. Keep reading to find out which guest stars will appear in DC K.O.: Bonus Battle #1 and who they’ll likely face.
6. Sub-Zero
When the new game was announced last October, Sub-Zero was the first character they showed off, and honestly, you can’t go wrong with him for a Mortal Kombat game (though I was secretly hoping for Johnny Cage!). It really got me thinking – who could actually stand a chance against him? And then it hit me: Aquaman! I know it sounds crazy, but Aquaman’s gotten seriously powerful. He’s now connected to this huge force called the Blue, which basically means he controls all water. Sub-Zero is tough, no doubt, but with those new abilities, Aquaman might just be the one dishing out the Fatality!
5. Vampirella
I didn’t expect to see Vampirella included, but I think she’ll add a lot of excitement to this story. The big question is, which of the fighters has the best chance against someone with all of Vampirella’s vampire abilities and incredible strength? Zatanna is a strong contender, given her history with Justice League Dark. She’s dealt with supernatural threats before, and a quick, backwards-spoken spell could easily defeat Vampirella, no matter how powerful she is.
4. Red Sonja
Red Sonja is undeniably one of the fiercest heroes out there, constantly defeating monsters and other strong opponents. While she could definitely hold her own against anyone in the Elite Eight, I think Wonder Woman would be the perfect match for her. Wonder Woman is widely considered the best fighter in the DC Universe, and it would be amazing to see these two powerful warriors face off. This could be our only chance, and DC K.O. should make it happen.
3. Annabelle
It’s surprising, but Annabelle, the creepy doll from The Conjuring universe, is appearing in DC K.O.! What’s even more interesting is that we know who she’s fighting – the Joker! Writer Scott Snyder revealed this unusual matchup, and honestly, it fits perfectly. Most DC characters probably wouldn’t bother fighting a doll, even a supernatural one. But the Joker is unpredictable enough to take on anything, and you have to wonder if he realizes just how dangerous this demonic doll really is.
2. Samantha
Someone decided to put the main character from Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees in this fight, and honestly, I’m excited to see what happens. Samantha might look sweet, but she’s actually a ruthless killer. It’s too bad Batman was knocked out early – a fight between them would have been amazing. But with Green Lantern Guy Gardner involved, fighting a killer bear doesn’t even seem that strange considering everything he’s faced before. It’s a crazy idea, but I’m really looking forward to this match.
1. Homelander
Just like the outcome of the Joker and Annabelle’s battle was revealed beforehand, we already know Superman and Homelander will eventually fight. However, this is a great storyline choice. We’ve seen variations of the ‘evil Superman’ concept for years, especially with The Boys’ take on the character. I really hope Superman decisively defeats Homelander – anything less would be a letdown.
